Clean energy can power New York while protecting the environment. The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, known as NYSERDA, promotes energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources. These efforts are key to developing a less polluting and more reliable and affordable energy system for all New Yorkers. Collectively, NYSERDA’s efforts aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, accelerate economic growth, and reduce customer energy bills. NYSERDA works with stakeholders throughout New York including residents, business owners, developers, community leaders, local government officials, university researchers, utility representatives, investors, and entrepreneurs. 🚧 Summer of Shovels: Progress in action! The NYSERDA team attended the groundbreaking of a Buildings of Excellence Competition winner! Castle III, developed by The Fortune Society and designed by Curtis + Ginsberg Architects, will be a 15 story, 83 unit building in East Harlem. The all-electric building has been designed to meet passive house criteria with rooftop solar panels to supplement grid-based electricity. Air source heat pumps will provide heating, cooling, and hot water. The entire project will be built to meet the ENERGY STAR and Enterprise Green Communities standards. #SummerofShovels

The 2024 State of the Science Workshop, hosted by the NYSERDA Environmental Technical Working Group, will take place on Long Island from July 16th-19th. This multi-day event covers offshore wind energy development, wildlife, and fisheries in the eastern U.S. and beyond.
