The Bowl at Ballantyne™ celebrated the opening of its fifth tenant, Postino, last week! As a result of the thoughtful collaboration between Northwood Retail and Northwood Office, Postino joined several other newly opened stores on Bowl Street. We can’t wait to see everything The Bowl does for the Ballantyne campus!

Thank you to Northwood Retail for hosting an informative retail panel at Northwood’s Annual General Meeting. Executives and founders of BREITLING, gorjana, Hai Hospitality, and Tecovas spoke about trends in consumer spending, the ways brick-and-mortar retail has been transformational for their respective businesses, and the reality of unit economics being better in-store than online, among other topics.

Northwood is celebrating this Earth Day with the recent acknowledgment from ENERGY STAR of a 2024 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year award. Northwood is proud to create living, shopping, lodging, logistics, and working spaces that are energy efficient today and every day.

“If it is good for the city, the answer is ‘yes’.” That quote, among others, was shared during the Nashville in Focus Panel that our President and CEO, John Kukral, moderated at this year’s PREA Spring Conference. The panelists discussed how the public and private sectors can best partner to help cities grow. Nashville experienced record-high tourism in 2023, has been the site of substantial corporate relocations, and is currently undertaking a $1.4 billion airport expansion, all of which exemplifies the success a city can achieve through consistent and collaborative public and private partnerships.   Northwood made its first investment in Nashville in 2011 and since then our portfolio in Music City has grown to over $2 billion of TEV. We were honored to speak to the city's success thanks to PENSION REAL ESTATE ASSOCIATION (PREA)!

Retail is not dead. Throughout 2023, Northwood Retail hosted performances by Suki Waterhouse and CMA Fest country music stars, curated community events ranging from holiday tree lightings to a NASCAR Champion’s Week installation, and increased foot traffic by 13.3% YoY.

Northwood Office was proud to celebrate National Energy Awareness Month in October as an Executive Member of Energy Star Certification Nation. Over 50 of Northwood Office’s properties earned EPA's Energy Star certification last year, underscoring Northwood Office’s ESG-focused approach to asset management. Energy Star-certified buildings use 35% less energy and cause 35% percent fewer greenhouse gas emissions on average. By partnering with Energy Star, Northwood Office strives to employ sustainable business practices throughout our office portfolio.

Curating exceptional experiences for hotel guests is what Northwood Hospitality does best. Conrad Nashville, Northwood's most recent hospitality investment in the heart of Music City, Nashville, partnered with Saks Fifth Avenue to bring the first personal shopping and styling suite to the state of Tennessee.   Guests at Conrad Nashville can now have a professionally selected suite full of bespoke clothing awaiting them upon check-in. The Fifth Avenue Club will offer guests the option to partake in one-of-a-kind trunk shows, jewelry showcases, and other unique shopping experiences without ever having to leave the hotel.
