June is National Homeownership Month, and we're excited to share stories from our clients and employees who have financed their homes with Northpointe Bank. Celebrate with us as we honor the joy, pride, and achievement of homeownership. Meet Courtney S., a client of loan officer Lindsay Ratterman in our St. Matthews, Kentucky office. Read about her journey to becoming a homeowner below: What inspired you to pursue homeownership? My son. I want him to have a better life and something to fall back on if I was to have departure in life. Can you share a memorable moment from the home-buying process? My Realtor kept telling me, “Girl we gone get you there” and my best friend motivated me every step of the way. There were a lot of people in my corner throughout this process that kept pushing me, and that’s what motivated me to keep going. Did you face any challenges along the way to purchasing your home? Most definitely. There was a lot more “No’s” than “Yes’s”, but I gave it to God, and he took care of it. I just prayed about it and put it in the hands of Mrs. Ratterman, Mrs. Cecil, and Ms. Holmes. What advice would you give to others who are considering buying a home? 1) Have a motivational team behind you at all times, and God. 2) Have a great Realtor (Ryan Cecil) and a great Lender (Mrs. Ratterman). 3) Have all your ducks in a row, the process will go faster. 4) Take advantage of ALL first-time homeowner’s programs to help you with down payments. 5) Make sure your credit is where it needs to be. 6) Don’t open any new lines of credit. 7) Pay your current bills that you have now. How has owning a home changed your life? This program and me owning a home has changed my family’s life tremendously. I have learned a lot throughout this whole process and the down payment assistance program gave me $36,430.00 for my home with the help of River City Team. I felt like I was not going to be able to make it all the way through, but I did, with my team by my side. This has also made me start learning how to budget my finances. This is real deal adulting!
