Northern Light Health exists to make healthcare work for you. That is our mission. That is our purpose. Northern Light Health is the most expansive integrated health care system in Maine. We provide care to people from Portland to Presque Isle and from Blue Hill to Greenville. We are comprised of ten member hospitals with 584 long-term beds, a single physician-led medical group, eight nursing homes, five emergency transport members, 37 primary care locations, and we employ more than 12,000 people in Maine.

    A new episode of Pathways is out for listeners! https://lnkd.in/eKW8Fkhd Taking nursing out of the hospital: Hospice Nursing We're continuing our stint outside of the traditional hospital, with Northern Light Home Care and Hospice. This week we're catching up with Hospice Nurse Allie Rhorer who went from Marine Biology to helping patients and their families in their time of need. Hear her story and delve deeper into what it's like working in this nursing specialty.

    Northern Light Pharmacy on State Street, Bangor is moving in 2025! The updated facility will help serve patients and pharmacy staff better. Matt Marston, PharmD, vice president and chief pharmacy officer, Northern Light Health, shared, “We are very excited for the plans of our new pharmacy to open later next year. While our current location has served us well, our new location will allow for more convenient parking, enhancements to the prescription pick-up drive-through, as well as more private spaces for patient consultation." The new facility will be located across from Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center on the corner of State and Otis Streets.

Jessica Muzzy is a home care nurse for Northern Light Home Care & Hospice. Instead of hospital hallways, she’s seeing patients in their living rooms.     Katie Bandstra and Daisha Strobridge, two Morehouse School of Medicine physician assistant students focusing on rural healthcare, recently wrapped up their clerkship rotation with Northern Light Health. Earlier this month, Katie and Daisha were invited to meet with Speaker Rachel Talbot Ross, received a tour of the State House in Augusta, and also had the opportunity to meet Gov. Janet Mills. They spoke with Speaker Talbot Ross about their interest in rural healthcare and their experiences in Maine. The students were joined by Darmita G. Wilson, Vice President of Medical Education, and Lisa Harvey-McPherson, Vice President of Government Relations, who discussed how Northern Light Health is helping to develop the healthcare workforce in Maine by leveraging education. #MorehouseSchoolofMedicine

This discussion will feature diverse voices committed to advancing gender-affirming care and fostering inclusivity: Mahmuda Ahmed, MD (she/her): Dr. Ahmed, a board-certified pediatrician, developed the Pediatric Endocrinology and Gender Clinic at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center. She is recognized for her work in gender-affirming care and serves on the Maine AAP board. Anna Mayo, PsyD (she/her): Dr. Mayo is a pediatric psychologist at Northern Light Pediatric Specialty Care. She provides care for gender diverse youth and specializes in behavioral health treatment for children with chronic medical conditions. Greg Bridges-Music, LCPC, M Div, MSPC, MSCMHC (he/him): Greg is a chaplain and counselor at Acadia Hospital. He has a rich history of advocacy, working with LGBTQ+ youth and leading weekly cognitive behavioral groups for preteens and teens. Soren Peterson (they/them): Soren, an incoming senior at Hampden Academy, co-founded the Inspired Insights podcast. They are passionate about improving mental health treatment and are actively involved in discussions on queer experiences and mental health.
