I'm very excited about this! At the upcoming Joint Statistical Meetings (JSM 2024, in Portland, Oregon), there is a wonderful opportunity to hear from several great leaders whose roles extend well beyond our field. This coming Sunday, August 4, from 2-3:50pm (Convention Center Room E-145), I will be moderating the panel discussion, “From Statistician to Institutional Leader: The Risks and Rewards of Making the Leap”. Panelists include (clockwise from top in picture) F. DuBois Bowman (Dean of University of Michigan School of Public Health, and newly-elected ASA Vice President), Amanda Golbeck (Associate Dean at the University of Arkansas’ Fay W. Boozman College of Public Health), Daniel Jeske (Vice-Provost at UC-Riverside), Susan Paddock (Executive Vice President for NORC at the University of Chicago and ASA Vice President), and Linda Young (Director of Research & Development at USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service/NASS). I thank Mimi Kim (Head of Division of Biostatistics at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and Past Chair of the sponsoring ASA Council on Chapters Governing Board) for organizing the session and inviting me to be the moderator.
