New Jersey School Boards Association provides advocacy, training, and support to thousands of public school officials.
About us
Established in 1914, the New Jersey School Boards Association (NJSBA) is a federation of all of the state's local boards of education. The 4,800 local board members who comprise our membership are the largest group of elected and appointed public officials in New Jersey. The Association provides training and technical assistance to these members, all of whom serve without compensation. In addition, the Association advocates the education, health, and safety interests of New Jersey's public school students and school districts. Local board of education members are the Association's core member group. However, NJSBA extends the privilege of associate membership to individuals and organizations whose work or interests address the concerns and mission of the Association.

New Jersey School Boards Association reposted this
Executive Director/Founder/CEO, Investor, Coach/Mentor, Board Member, Professor of Ethics, YPO, 2016 NASS National Superintendent of the Year, 2015 Highest Rated Professor in the Nation
We are thrilled that the New Jersey School Boards Association was honored with a 2024 Real Leaders IMPACT Award for being a "most transparent" organization. This accolade stands as a testament to the collective dedication of our NJSBA staff (my work family), Board of Directors, NJSBA Officers, and President Dr. Karen Cortellino, all united in the pursuit of our shared vision and mission. Transparency is not merely a concept we espouse; it is the bedrock of our ethos, permeating every facet of our organization. It is the guiding principle that illuminates our discussions, informs our decisions, and propels our actions forward! Transparency is the key to the success of any organization; the gateway to open and honest dialogue, shattering barriers to communication, mitigating misunderstandings, and fostering a deeper connection with our stakeholders. Through transparency, trust is forged, and credibility is cemented, cultivating an environment conducive to positivity and prosperity, indispensable qualities for any membership organization. Transparency is not always easy... it takes courage to be willing to talk about your challenges, acknowledge vulnerabilities, and confront failures head-on, even when such conversations may evoke discomfort. True leadership entails accountability—a commitment to owning our missteps, learning from them, and charting a course toward meaningful solutions. These conversations make us stronger! Informed members become empowered allies, steadfast in their support, understanding, and engagement with our mission. #Transparency #Leadership #ImpactAwards #NJSBA #BoardGovernance #Governance #Education #RealLeaders
