Neuhaus Education Center was proud to participate in “Literacy for Life: It Takes a Village” organized by Jennifer Ledwith of Scholar Ready. The convening brought together East Harris County thought leaders to develop an action plan for literacy. One of Neuhaus’s Adult Literacy Program graduates, Aiyanna Faye, joined to share her perspective as an adult learner with dyslexia. We are incredibly proud of how Aiyanna uses her voice to elevate the experience of adult literacy students, and we look forward to continuing to raise awareness and serve adult learners with dyslexia through our free virtual and in person evening classes. #LiteracyMatters #Neuhaus #LiteracyForAll

Neuhaus is supporting our partners in New Mexico in their Summer Reading Program by providing in-person and virtual coaching sessions to those we’ve trained over the last few weeks. Participants of virtual coaching sessions have said: ~ Thank you! This made lesson plans a lot less scary! ~ This training has been excellent! Thank you for everything you have done to accommodate our learning (making different times to meet, offering coaching sessions…). We appreciate it! ~ Loved Jennifer’s lessons today. At Harris County Office of County Administration's Mindful Justice: Exploring Health Disparities and Inequities in the Justice System conference this month, Neuhaus Education Center teamed up with Charles Rotramel of Houston: reVision and Drs. Anson Koshy and Elisa Moran from Texas Children's Hospital to discuss “Literacy at the Intersection of Preventative Healthcare and the Juvenile Justice System.” Neuhaus intentionally fosters dialogue across diverse providers to prioritize literacy as a catalyst for change in all spaces. Literacy is a key lever for achieving equity, particularly for vulnerable groups such as justice-impacted individuals, and we thank Harris County for crafting a powerful space for discussion, deliberation, and ultimately, action. #NeuhausKnowsReading #LiteracyForAll #Literacy

The Dollar General Literacy Foundation recently awarded Neuhaus Education Center an $8,000 grant to support our Margaret H. Ley Adult Literacy Program. This local grant is a part of the Foundation’s more than $10.6 million donated to support adult, family, and summer literacy programs in the 48 states in which Dollar General operates.
