NEA Baptist Health System comprises NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital, NEA Baptist Clinic, northeast Arkansas’ largest physician group and the Fowler Family Center for Cancer Care. The 228-bed hospital offers cancer care, heart care through the Heart Center, labor and delivery services through the hospital's Women's Center, as well as a number of inpatient and outpatient services, emergency care, and surgical services including weight loss surgery, neurology, respiratory care, and pulmonary rehabilitation. Call 870-936-8000 to schedule an appointment with Dr. Ron Schechter. Dr. Ron Schechter was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. His interests outside of work include family, exercise/health/fitness, and is a private pilot. He graduated with honors from the University of Colorado and then attended the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He was one of 4 people in the nation selected to complete a residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. After residency, he moved to Northeast Arkansas where he has been practicing orthopedic surgery full time to the present. Dr. Schechter has a very diverse practice including joint replacement, trauma, sports medicine, and hand surgery. However, he specializes in joint replacement surgery of the shoulder, hip, and knee. He does the majority of shoulder replacements in Northeast Arkansas. Of particular interest, Dr. Schechter is an expert in the direct superior approach for total hip replacement. Direct superior hip replacement is one of the most minimally invasive hip replacement techniques without cutting through the muscles, patients hurt less, patients have no restrictions after surgery, and rehab very quickly. Dr. Schechter is the only surgeon in the states of Arkansas and Tennessee doing this total hip replacement approach with patients coming in from around the United States to have this surgery done here.
