North Carolina Department of Administration reposted this
Since starting my role as legislative liaison at DOA, I have had the pleasure of speaking with many talented interns with a passion for affecting change in the world through sound governance and good policy. As someone who broke into this work as an intern, I have never been, and will never be, too busy to meet with these future leaders. So, of course, when Noah asked if he could shadow me at the NCGA one day this week, I was eager to agree. I was lucky very early in my career to have people in positions of authority willing to take a chance on me while I learned the ropes in a very challenging, labyrinthine field of work. It’s hard enough getting young folks interested in the legislative process, and those who do are likely looking at DC—not the seemingly mundane “General Assembly.” So if you come across a young person who is, take a half a day and let them learn a thing or two from you. We may all do great work, but not a dang one of us has built what we have without a lot of help. Pay it forward when you can. Thanks for keeping me straight today, Noah Champion.

"I really enjoy working with my boss and all of the opportunities to learn more about victim advocacy and domestic violence intervention that I’ve been provided. I also love that the work I’m doing has the potential to help other women, it's very fulfilling." #Intern4NC
