About us
The National Summer Learning Association (NSLA) is the only national nonprofit exclusively focused on closing the opportunity gap through high-quality summer learning for all children and youth. Our work centers on three strategic priorities: Recognizing and disseminating what works in summer learning; offering expertise and support for programs and communities to strengthen and expand summer learning opportunities; convening leaders and advocating for summer learning as a solution for equity and excellence in education. Our vision is that all children and youth have access to high-quality summer learning experiences to help them succeed in college, career, and life. To realize that vision, our mission is to convince, connect, and equip providers, education leaders, families, and communities to deliver high-quality summer learning opportunities to our nation’s children and youth that help close the opportunity gap and support healthy development. New amazing opportunity today for an additional $20m from U.S. Department of Labor focused on providing critical career pathways for youth. The grants for FY 24 for $20m are for national out-of-school time organizations to expand local work-based learning opportunities, job training and career pathways for underserved youth during non-school hours. The Workforce Pathways for Youth demonstration grants will help these organizations partner with state or locally-operated affiliate organizations that serve historically marginalized and underserved youth ages 14 to 21 (also exciting priority for Native American youth). Through the partnerships, out-of-school time organizations will introduce youth to career-related services and provide work-based learning experiences and occupational skills training. They will also offer unsubsidized employment placements to increase opportunities to gain youth's skills to succeed in post-secondary education and employment. The program also encourages partners across the workforce system to provide supportive services to address the mental health needs of participating youth. The youth workforce system plays a critical role in supporting participants' mental health through assessments, comprehensive guidance, and counseling, including referrals to partner organizations. Short turn - applications are due on July 15! https://lnkd.in/eRwWDT-a Tagging friends at Common Group, American Student Assistance, Walton Family Foundation, Strada Education Foundation, Afterschool Alliance, KP Catalysts - Knowledge to Power Catalysts, LearnerStudio, Remake Learning, The Grable Foundation, CommunityShare , Getting Smart, to raise visibility - also naming some rockstar people to share the word George Vinton, Merita Irby, Karen J.
