The individuals who come through the doors of #RecuperativeCare programs are at the very center of why we do this work. Their needs, voices, and experiences are crucial to shaping the future of recuperative care services. That’s why we are committed to supporting people with lived experience of homelessness in attending the inaugural California Recuperative Care Symposium Sept. 12-13 in Sacramento. We're offering full client scholarships to the symposium, covering all costs. Scholarship applications are open to California residents with lived experience of homelessness — especially those with experience in a recuperative care setting. Nearly half of Americans with post-COVID conditions (PCC) turn to their doctors for guidance, but staying current on this rapidly evolving field can be a challenge for clinicians. Get up to speed on the current policy landscape at our next Respite Care Providers' Network Coffee Chat on July 18 at 12 p.m. CDT, when we'll discuss how programs can respond to these policies as well as advocacy options and ideas. The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) recently — and unexpectedly! — released details for a 2025 New Access Point (NAP) grant opportunity, opening up $50 million in funding for potential new health centers and Health Care for the Homeless (HCH) programs. Grant applications are due Aug. 15, 2024. On our HCH Helpdesk blog, we review the Health Center Program's history, the HCH designation, and the National Health Care for the Homeless Council’s technical assistance offerings around grant applications. While NHCHC cannot write applications for organizations, we can support health centers with many aspects of their Health Center Program compliance. For example, NHCHC can support technical assistance requests related to administrative policies, staffing and credentialing, needs assessments, consumer governance, program monitoring, and UDS reporting. Learn more about the NAP grant opportunity and how the Council can help here: https://lnkd.in/grwXh3ft

The scorching days of summer can be brutal — and deadly — for our #unhoused neighbors. “If you’re in an urban area that’s primarily concrete, you’re retaining heat,” says Lindsay Fox. “We’re seeing heat exposure that very quickly could go to heat stroke.” https://lnkd.in/g-4HxhRc
