About us
The mission of the National College Attainment Network (NCAN) is to build, strengthen, and empower communities and stakeholders to close equity gaps in postsecondary attainment for all students. In today’s economy, a college degree is in greater demand than ever before. Unfortunately, issues such as rising tuition costs and confusion about complex college admission and financial aid processes keep many qualified students from entering college. Many of those who do enroll face additional challenges finding the support and resources they need to graduate. These factors have left today’s young Americans less likely to obtain college degrees than members of their parents’ generation. NCAN works to reverse this growing college opportunity gap. At NCAN, we unite the key organizations dedicated to increasing college access and success. With our members and partners, we develop and support programs and policy solutions that help more students enter and complete college and other postsecondary training.

Surprising findings from school leaders about postsecondary outcomes, from the RAND Annual AMES Survey as shared by National College Attainment Network (NCAN) This is what typically happens; forward-thinking counselors are turning to postsecondary tools like Willow to drive change for their students. 🗃 Most schools don’t have electronic access to data on postsecondary outcomes or milestones for their students - It’s hard to set goals and understand student wants and needs without any of the information leaders need to make decisions that support students on their next path. 🚫 Over 60% of school leaders “do not use” data on postsecondary advising, application, and enrollment. - Without access to the right data, it’s all too common for leaders to let it go unused. 👨🏫 School counselors often take on the primary responsibility of postsecondary advising– at 81% of schools. - Most often, this takes the form of one-on-one meetings with students, which could put strain on overloaded counselors.
