The National Celiac Association represents and serves individuals with celiac disease and gluten sensitivities. We offer: * Three issues a year of Gluten-Free Nation, our full-color print magazine * An e-newsletter, NCA News, with items too important to wait, goes out monthly * We host a celiac conference in partnership with the celiac centers at MassGeneral Hospital, Boston Children’s Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and the Celiac Program at Harvard Medical School * We have a formalized board of directors, and an actively engaged board of advisors and almost 40 active volunteers. NCA has become the recognized education and advocacy group for people with celiac disease and other gluten-related disorders. Our Practices We educate, advocate and raise awareness of celiac disease and gluten intolerance. We foster a sense of community, belonging and camaraderie. We keep a close affiliation with a core of expert gastroenterologists and nutritionists. We provide empowerment to live with a chronic disease and share a positive outlook as ambassadors of the disease. We offer membership, the dues of which support the celiac and gluten free community.

  • It is officially Celiac Awareness Month, and we could not think of a better way to start the month than reminding all of us why it exists in the first place. We would like to wish a happy 2nd birthday to Beau Musbach - a very special birthday, because just 6 months ago, he was so sick that his family didn’t know if he would see this birthday at all. Thanks to the advocacy of his medical team, he was diagnosed with celiac disease and is finally back to the happy baby boy he once was. Navigating this diagnosis was not easy for his family and we are honored to have been a resource for them during this difficult time through our NCA and ROCK (Raising Our Celiac Kids) programs. It is through sharing stories like this and spreading awareness of celiac disease that we can help families like the Musbachs get answers and a path to healing. Your support allows us to help people like Beau every day. https://lnkd.in/gRnjEPvq

  • We know that Celiac Awareness Month is still one week away but we couldn't wait and wanted to start sharing the wonderful stories of the people in our community a bit early. Our "Because of NCA" series is going to highlight and bring awareness to the individuals and programs that truly make a difference to those affected by celiac disease and non-celiac gluten sensitivities. Learn more about how and when you can view the next person's journey by watching this video and following our FB and IG feeds. #CeliacAwarenessMonth #glutenfree

  • The National Celiac Association is happy to announce the addition of three new members to our Board of Directors. Each of these individuals provides a unique level of perspective, professionalism, and passion for our cause and community. Kirsten (KB) Spector draws on decades of corporate banking and community involvement in her role as Board Treasurer for the National Celiac Association. Diagnosed in 2006, KB took the celiac diet seriously, immediately eliminating wheat flour from the kitchen. While this was the first of many changes, it unwittingly led to both her children – neither of whom are celiac, becoming exceptional GF bakers. Over the years, she has shared tips and strategies with others, even strangers, to improve their gluten free lifestyle. Christopher D. Sullivan, MD, MPH, FACPM is a physician executive, board certified in Public Health and General Preventive Medicine. After serving as a Squadron Medical Officer and Preventive Medicine Officer in the US Navy, Dr. Sullivan applied his expertise in population health and preventive medicine as a Chief Medical Officer in various health systems over 15 years. His professional interests include patient safety, healthcare quality improvement, reducing unjustified clinical variation, and the efficient delivery of evidence-based clinical care. Tami Goldsmith has 40 years of parenting experience with her son Luke who has Down syndrome, and for 21 of those years they’ve navigated Luke’s life with celiac disease. Tami was first affiliated with Healthy Villi, NECO and now NCA. After a long career in real estate brokerage; she now considers herself a community volunteer. Currently she serves on the development committee of Maine Behavioral Health Care.  Most recently she served on the campaign cabinet for the construction of the Glickman Lauder Center of Excellence. Today, Tami serves on the community advisory council for the Glickman Lauder Center of Excellence in Autism and Developmental Disorders. One of Tami’s goals is to continue to grow NCA and have nationwide available access to testing, accurate diagnosis, medical treatment, nutritional support and advocacy for all.
