All of the work we do is on children’s behalf, driven by our mission and vision, and the values we hold in common.

About us

The National Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) / Guardian ad Litem (GAL) Association for Children, together with its network of 941 state organizations and local programs in 49 states and the District of Columbia, supports and promotes court-appointed volunteer advocacy so every child who has experienced abuse or neglect can be safe, have a permanent home, and the opportunity to thrive. National CASA/GAL leads the continued growth and development of this extensive national network of CASA/GAL programs, each of which recruits, trains and supports volunteers who advocate in court for the best interests of children and youth who are in the child welfare system or foster care. CASA and GAL volunteers are appointed by judges to advocate for children and youth. Volunteers work with legal and child welfare professionals, educators and service providers to ensure that judges have all the information they need to make the most well-informed decisions for each child. For many children, their CASA or GAL volunteer will be the one consistent adult in their lives. The positive impact of a CASA or GAL volunteer can help a child thrive.
