We are thrilled to share that the National Association of Trailer Manufacturers (NATM) has received significant federal support for its flagship initiative, Trailer Safety Week. June 2-8, 2024, has been officially recognized as "National Trailer Safety Week" throughout the United States. 🥳 This important designation emphasizes the significance of safe towing practices and maintenance for light- and medium-duty trailers under 26,000 lbs GVWR, including various types such as utility, flatbed, horse/livestock, and car hauler trailers, as well as towable RVs. Alex Stowe, Executive Director of NATM, highlighted the importance of empowering end-users with knowledge of safe towing practices, stating, "Raising awareness on proper towing techniques and maintenance is essential for the well-being of all road users nationwide. Through Trailer Safety Week, NATM continues to shine a light on these critical issues, marking a significant milestone in traffic safety interventions for light- and medium-duty trailer usage." The remarkable support for National Trailer Safety Week was further reinforced by U.S. Rep. Rudy Yakym of Indiana, who led the effort on H. Res 1268. This resolution, supported by Representatives John Garamendi of California, Sanford Bishop of Georgia, and Tim Burchett of Tennessee, demonstrates a bipartisan commitment to advancing safe trailering practices nationwide. https://buff.ly/3yKEOIp #TrailerSafety #TrailerIndustry #KeepOnHauling #RoadSafety #TrailerTip #TrailerLife #Trailering #BringATrailer #NATM #TrailerSafetyWeek #NATMDecal #TrailerMaintenance

About us
The National Association of Trailer Manufacturers (NATM) has been dedicated to improving trailer safety and performance for more than 30 years. The association represents manufacturers that produce light- and medium-duty trailers and suppliers of products and services to these manufacturers. NATM seeks to promote awareness of safety and provide a voice for trailer manufacturers and their suppliers when issues of trailer safety and regulation are considered by Congress and relevant government agencies. NATM is dedicated to improving trailer safety. One way this is accomplished is through a mandatory Compliance Verification Program, requiring all Regular members (trailer manufacturers) to verify they have the manufacturing processes in place to build trailers that meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) and industry best practices.

In 1904 on the streets in between industrial buildings in St. Louis, Missouri, Max Shapiro could be found picking up scrap and loading it into his horse-drawn buggy. The Shapiros immigrated to the United States from Ukraine in 1884 to escape religious persecution. Harry Shapiro, Max’s brother, listed his occupation as “junk peddler” on his Declaration of Intention, and the roots of an award-winning company that is a leader in industrial recycling and sustainability solutions were planted. Today, Shapiro - Partners Today. For Tomorrow. has clients worldwide and is still dealing in scrap, just on a much larger and technically advanced scale. The company is now headed by Bruce Shapiro, Max’s grandson and current Shapiro CEO. Bruce is the third-generation Shapiro to head the company and has worked at Shapiro his whole life. “We’re able to do things that other companies can’t do and give people information,” Bruce said. “People aren't looking at what's going out the backdoor like they're looking at what’s going out the front door. We want people to weigh their scrap. We want them to know where pricing is coming from. We want to help them segregate their scrap so they get the most value.” Those at Shapiro know they’re fighting an uphill battle when they say that going green doesn’t mean costing more green. Companies’ waste streams are typically not looked at for optimization or as an avenue to make money so Shapiro is able to come in and optimize that process for clients and that typically involves finding them cost reductions or even profits.
