The National Academy of Social Insurance (NASI) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization made up of the nation's leading experts on social insurance. Its mission is to advance solutions to challenges facing the nation by increasing public understanding of how social insurance contributes to economic security. Social insurance encompasses broad-based systems that help workers and their families pool risks to avoid loss of income due to retirement, death, disability, or unemployment, and to ensure access to health care. The Academy convenes steering committees and study panels that are charged with conducting research, issuing findings, and, in some cases, reaching recommendations based on their analysis. Members of these groups are selected for their recognized expertise and with due consideration for the balance of disciplines and perspectives appropriate to the project. Lawmakers, taxpayers, and workers count on the Unemployment Insurance system to adhere to the highest standards of program performance and integrity. NASI's 2024 Workers Compensation: Benefits, Costs, and Coverage Congratulations to the National Academy of Social Insurance, the 2024 workers compensation report authors, and the study group for another well put together annual report. It is our country's most comprehensive annual study of the workers compensation industry. It has become our country's most respected and authoritative published work on the various components of workers compensation benefits, costs, and coverage. Grateful for NASI's leadership and continued focus on all aspects of social insurance, and very specifically for their long term commitment to continuing to publish their annual study on workers compensation. For those who of us who live and breathe work comp, the anticipation for this report is real; the excitement around its publishing is palpable. So, thank you for once again providing us with a trustworthy set of numbers we can all point to as the truth in the workers compensation system.
