  • We are proud to introduce Taren Jackson our Referral Relationship Manager (RRM). Taren was born and raised in a small town in North Carolina. She moved to Nashville 7 years ago to work in the Music Industry but discovered her true passion in helping animals and their humans. Taren started her career in vet med at a general practice and is excited to join us as our Referral Relationship Manager. As an RRM, Taren will extend outreach to our community by visiting clinics, providing hospital updates and information, maintaining and building relationships, and gathering feedback on improving our services. #welcometotheteam #referralrelationshipmanager #NVSNashville

When severe weather struck Clarksville on Saturday December 9th, Ranger was outside in the backyard. His owners were away from home and unable to get back to him before the devastating tornado touched down. Caught in the destructive path, Ranger was trapped by a fallen tree, causing the lower portion of his left pelvic limb to be severed. Neighbors and family friends rescued Ranger and immediately brought him to our sister location, NVS Clarksville, for emergency care. At presentation, he could shakily stand on 3 limbs. The injury had no significant bleeding but there was exposed bone.  Remarkably, he had no other significant injuries. Ranger was admitted to the ICU for supportive care and aggressive pain management. Despite his trauma, Ranger was outgoing and friendly to our staff, and received lots of TLC. His parents came to visit him in hospital as soon as they returned and it was a happy reunion. Unfortunately, Ranger's only treatment option was surgical amputation of the remainder of the limb. It was our privilege to offer Ranger a financial grant from the NVS Cares Fund to help cover the cost of surgery. The NVS Cares fund is a 501(c)3 charitable foundation funded entirely by donations to serve patients in our hospital, including those who have been harmed by a natural disaster. On Monday, our board-certified surgeon, Dr. Streppa, amputated the limb at the middle of the femur. Ranger did great under anesthesia and recovered smoothly. He was noticeably more relaxed following surgery and his mobility began to improve. The day after surgery, Ranger finally ate for us and became even friendlier with the staff. He went to the bathroom outside on his own and showed improved mobility with the remaining right back foot. Ranger was discharged to his dad later that afternoon, very excited to be going home! Ranger has a great prognosis for mobility and overall quality of life. He needs to take it easy for the next 2 weeks (and not allowed to get to his incision) but after that time, his incisional staples will be removed and he can be allowed to resume his new life on 3 legs. We ask that you to consider making a tax-deductible donation to our NVS Cares Fund, so that our hospital can continue to serve pets in our community. Donations can be made directly on our website at https://lnkd.in/ghdRqihw.    #fortheloveofpets #nvscaresfund

  • This Giving Tuesday, we ask that you consider making a donation to the NVS Cares Fund. The NVS CARES fund is used to save the lives of our patients in need. Meet "Bearo", a one-month-old puppy who was brought in for vomiting, respiratory distress, and coughing up roundworms. Bearo tested negative for parvovirus, but needed intensive care, with oxygen, and a blood transfusion. The NVS CARES fund was able to help Bearo get the care he needed. The following day he was discharged home to his family with antibiotics for suspected pneumonia, and a dewormer. His owners were so grateful for the care he received and gave everyone hugs at discharge! 🤗 This is why we do what we do. Thanks to everyone who helped Bearo and who has donated or shared the NVS CARES fund. Be on the lookout for more fundraising opportunities as the holidays near!
