  • The Nashua Transit System Ten-Year Plan survey is being conducted during the month of July. NRPC seeks to receive a wide variety of opinions on the Nashua Transit System and how NTS can better serve its riders. Recently, the Regional Coordination Council for Community Transportation Mobility Manager, Donna Marceau, was at the Nashua Transit Center asking riders to participate. Here are two very happy riders who just completed the surveys in Spanish! • DOT is hosting a two-part webinar series to help communities use data to effectively tell their stories in planning, development, and applying for DOT grants.    Part 1 of the webinar series will be held on Monday, July 22, 2024, at 3:00 PM ET. The webinar will focus on how to identify and describe a project and its goals, identify users of the infrastructure or system, and determine the project’s impact area. Participants will receive step-by-step information and presenters will use examples to illustrate each of the concepts in the planning, project development, and/or grant application process. The webinar will conclude with a brief Q&A session. The webinar will be recorded and posted on the DOT Navigator.    Part 2 of the webinar series will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at 3:00 PM ET. The webinar will introduce participants to DOT’s Equitable Transportation Community (ETC) Explorer tool and provide detailed information on how to use the tool to map a project area, identify how a community is experiencing disadvantage, and evaluate project benefits to a community. This information will build on the content presented during Part 1 of the webinar series. Participants are encouraged to register for both or review the Part 1 materials before attending Part 2. Part 2 of the webinar series will also be recorded and posted to the DOT Navigator.    Register for the webinar series here: https://nashuarpc.link/wd2

  • The work to improve safety on the NH101 – Milford Bypass is progressing. The new pavement markings that were recently installed provide a buffer between eastbound and westbound traffic. Rumble strips will be installed in the center median later this summer. The rumble strips will alert drivers who stray over the double yellow lines and the additional space between the lines will provide an opportunity for drivers to adjust back into their lane. Analysis has shown that this will reduce the chances of serious car crashes on the Bypass.

  • Ready to take a dip? Not so fast! With the recent hot temperatures in our region, it’s tempting to hop into the nearest lake to cool off. Be aware that there can be harmful cyanobacteria in our local lakes and ponds. Cyanobacteria sometimes produce toxins that can harm people, pets, livestock and wildlife. When cyanobacteria multiply to form a bloom, they can produce enough toxins to affect human and animal health. Before heading out you can check out the NHDES Healthy Swimming Mapper: https://lnkd.in/epUkJ-Dq to get the current advisories and alerts for fecal bacteria or cyanobacteria at public beaches during the swim season. Happy Swimming and Stay Safe!
