During Speaker Heastie's most recent visit to the North Country last week, Garry Douglas, President/CEO of the North Country Chamber of Commerce was able to speak to him about New York State's plans for funding the MTA capital budget in the wake of the postponement of congestion pricing in NYC. Proper funding for the MTA is crucial for our region's transportation equipment manufacturers. The Speaker's feedback and reassurances were informative and welcome.
Thanks to Assemblyman Billy Jones, Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie has become a regular visitor to the North Country, providing an opportunity to highlight timely matters and needs. And so we were pleased to join in his recent visit to the ORDA Olympic Center in Lake Placid and to Mt. Van Hoevenberg, seeing firsthand some of the results of state investments over the last decade in ORDA's sports venues. North Country Chamber President Garry Douglas took the opportunity to discuss plans for funding the MTA capital budget in the wake of the postponement of congestion pricing in NYC which was targeted to fund MTA investments including upcoming opportunities for our area transportation equipment producers. The Speaker's feedback and reassurances were informative and welcome.
