Ferndale Generating Station Earns Recertification for Outstanding Safety Culture Congratulations to Puget Sound Energy's Ferndale Generating Station for earning the official OSHA recertification for Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP) STAR status.  The NAES–operated plant earned this accomplishment because everyone involved creates and maintains an outstanding safety culture in everything they do. The program sets performance-based criteria for a managed safety and health system, and verification includes a rigorous onsite evaluation by a team of OSHA safety and health experts. Congratulations to PSE’s Director of Generation & Natural Gas Storage, Mark Carlson, and the entire NAES team for keeping safety priority #1.

Puget Sound Energy’s Tacoma Liquid Natural Gas plant played a key role in serving its Kitsap and Pierce County customers during the region’s coldest spell in 30 years.   The Tacoma LNG plant, operated by NAES Corporation, was built by PSE expressly to meet peak needs like this. The plant was able to keep the gas flowing by providing 174 million standard cubic feet of gas over 4 days, far surpassing the capacity that would have been possible had they relied on outside vendors to fill the need – the primary solution used in the past. It allowed PSE to provide continuous service to more than 100,000 homes throughout the two counties.    Now that’s good planning!

E3 Consulting, a NAES company, has been the Independent Engineer (IE) for the groundbreaking Stanton Battery Energy Storage (SBES) project developed by W Power and Wellhead Electric Company . The IE scope of work included technical and commercial due diligence and reviewing the Project's compliance with Equator Principles 4 (EP4). The 68.8 MW/275.2 MWh utility-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) is fully operational, providing clean power and improving grid resiliency in the Southern California Edison Southwest LA region. SBES complements the Stanton Energy Reliability Center (SERC), a first-of-its-kind 98 MW natural gas-fired, simple-cycle facility with an integrated BESS developed by W Power and located in Stanton, California. The SERC project began commercial operation on October 6, 2020. E3 served as the IE for that Project as well.
