Congratulations to the healthcare team at Munson Medical Center! MMC has again been acknowledged as one of the best hospitals in Michigan by U.S. News and World Report’s rankings for Best Hospitals in Michigan. Just 17 hospitals in Michigan were on the list, with MMC coming in sixth. “This recognition truly reflects the dedication of our providers, clinical staff, and support staff and the high level at which they perform each day,” said Joe Hurshe, president of Munson Medical Center. “Moving up to sixth this year is certainly an indicator of our growth as a hub for specialty care in many different areas including our designation as Northern Michigan’s first and only Comprehensive Stroke Center.” MMC was rated a high-performing hospital in 14 different procedures/conditions in areas that include Cardiology, Stroke, Neurology, Orthopedics, Maternity Care, Pulmonology, Endocrinology, and Nephrology. The U.S. News and World Report’s list includes 466 hospitals from across the nation and helps guide patients to hospitals that deliver outstanding care across 25 specialties, procedures and conditions. The Best Hospitals methodologies include objective measures such as patient outcomes, how well hospitals follow best standards of care, infection rates, adequacy of nurse staffing, technologies, and more. “When everyone is watching, no one is watching.” Drowning is the number one cause of death for children ages 1-4 and the second leading cause of unintentional injury death in children ages 5-18. Careful supervision of children in the water saves lives – and designating a “Water Watcher” ensures just that. A Water Watcher is a responsible adult who agrees to closely supervise children in or near water without smartphones, alcoholic beverages, or other distractions. After a certain amount of time, the Water Watcher responsibility can be passed to another adult. For more water safety tips visit https://hubs.li/Q02H7CTF0.

“Healthcare, specifically Radiology, runs in my family. My mom became an X-ray Technologist and advanced into a Radiation Therapy career. My aunt and uncle worked as X-ray Technologists, along with two of their daughters. After high school I went directly into Radiography school, and the rest is history. After a 20-year career in Metro Detroit, I chose Munson because I saw the amazing opportunity to serve Traverse City and the surrounding communities by bringing new Radiology programs, advanced technologies, and increasing access to care. Munson is a special place because we have the privilege to serve over half a million residents across 29 counties – not to mention many of our communities are destination locations, allowing Munson to be a beacon of healthcare for people from around the world.” — Branden H., MBA, RT(R)(N)(CT) Read more at https://hubs.li/Q02GZwPK0.
