Moody Neuro Lubbock genuinely appreciates the diverse community activities offered in Lubbock, TX. Many might not be aware that Lubbock features a vibrant arts district. At its center is the Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts (LHUCA), a non-profit arts center in Downtown Lubbock. LHUCA's mission is to foster and celebrate all forms of art by inspiring creativity and engaging the community. Recently, staff and patients took a trip to the LHUCA to explore the exhibits on display. They had the opportunity to learn about the meaning behind each unique piece and the various art media used to create them. You can always count on our therapy team to put a unique twist on traditional activities, like painting. A recent visit to Paint Pass was no exception! Each patient began with a blank canvas for their own creation and, at any moment, received a notification to pass the canvas to the next participant. Upon receiving an unfinished piece, each person interpreted the original artist's intention and added their own touch. As each canvas passed through every participant's hand, it evolved into a beautiful work of art, reflecting everyone's perspective. Residents and staff at Moody Neuro Space Center came together for a delightful pre-July 4th celebration.  Our dietary team prepared a fantastic cookout and, we had a lot of great side dishes and desserts prepared by other staff members.   The food was excellent, the games were entertaining for everyone, and patients particularly enjoyed having their faces painted.  We were also glad to have TEAgether join us, serving specialty teas from their mobile tea trailer.   TEAgether is a great organization created to help employ young adults with disabilities.  They are a very hard-working and enthusiastic group and they are always looking for opportunities to promote their delicious beverages!  You can reach them at 281-455-2386.   We also want to give a big “Thank You!” to our Fun Club and other Moody Neuro staff for organizing such an enjoyable event. A fun fact about Moody Neuro Lubbock is our staff and patients love a nice cup of coffee. Throughout the year, we enjoy outings at The Coffee Bar at Cardinals. Patients are provided with a budget to make their selection and interact with unfamiliar communication partners. While each person enjoys the atmosphere and beverage, they also engage in conversation and cognitive leisure tasks that target skills for attention, reasoning, and mental flexibility.
