Employee Spotlight: Meet Eric Dodge, or as some like to call him "Dodgeball! “Eric cares for his patients as he would for his own family members.” This year marks his 40th year as a provider, 35 of those years being a Paramedic, and has been with Monroe for almost 15 years total. Dodge is one of the most decorated/trained providers within the area. He has all of the “alphabet” cards – ACLS, PHTLS, EPC, CPR, as well as CISM, “Assisting Individuals in Crisis” and “Group Crisis Intervention, serves as a MLREMS Preceptor, an FLCC/MCC Preceptor, and Monroe Ambulance FTO/Captain. Dodge grew up in Middleport, NY and graduated from the Royalton-Hartland CSD. When Dodge was a kid, his family moved into the village of Middleport where the FD was directly behind his childhood home as well as Tri-Town’s Middleport Ambulance base located at the end of his street. His parents joined the ambulance shortly after moving which sparked his interest into EMS at an early age. Dodge joined the ambulance at just 16 years old, and has been doing it ever since. When asking Dodge what the memorable moments are as a provider, he says “Wow. I’m not even sure where to start! Getting shot at was pretty exhilarating at the time. Working on the trapped driver of an overturned and leaking propane tanker truck was right up there too. Especially when he started pleading with me to get the hell out there before it blew up. Or working an extrication with the Kodak FD that when I got out of the car where the female was trapped under the 18-wheeler, finding 3 cranes, 2 sets of Jaws, a couple of heavy wreckers, and several ‘come-a-longs’ all operating within 15-20 minutes of our arrival. Where else but Kodak (at the time anyways) could you get freaking 3 cranes operating at a crash scene, let alone in such a short period of time? But mostly, I’ll never forget the people that do this job. We have a group of the most eclectic individuals that go out there daily and see the absolute worst that humanity has to offer. And every once in a while, humanity will toss a curveball at you and show you the very best of people too. But EMS providers are like no other people on this planet and have given me so many stories over the years, both good and bad!” Outside of work, Dodge enjoys spending time with his wife, kids, and dog “Thor”. His wife Stacey and him will be celebrating 35 years of marriage this October, and have 3 children Alyssa, Hannah, and Evan. Dodge enjoys reading a good book, watching movies, bicycling, and actively responding still as a Life Member at Middleport Fire Company. He plans to retire when he turns 60 and desires to travel after that. First on his list are Roswell, New Mexico, the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, and Alaska. Dodge is one of the best, hands down. It is not easy to build this type of reputation within the EMS community and be just as wonderful of a person and friend. We are extremely privileged to have him as a provider. Thank you for everything you do!

May 23rd we had the pleasure of supporting participants in The 2024 J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge 5k! Monroe was able to stand by to provide medical assistance if needed for almost 5,000 participants. We were prepared with 7 Ambulances, approximately 20 providers, with 7 of those providers being Advanced Life Support providers! Not only were we excited and happy to cheer on the runners, but also be ready in case they needed us. 🚑 What a beautiful night! 🏃♂️➡️🏃♀️➡️

Congratulations to our providers, Paramedic Adam Regoni and EMT Emily Weaver for receiving the Trauma Lifesaver Award! They were honored at the Trauma Lifesaver Recognition Event held by the UR Kessler Trauma Center & UR Golisano Children's Hospital Pediatric Trauma Center! They were highlighted and recognized as individuals who provided exemplary, life-saving prehospital care to a critically injured patient. On 9/13/23 they were dispatched, along with other first responders Captain Jonathan Higgins and Firefighter Jeffrey Tuohey, to the report of an individual who had been run over by a tractor. Upon arrival on scene, they found an elderly male who had been run over by an approximately 4500lb tractor. Recognizing the severity of the patient's injuries, responding crews took action to make notifies to Mercy Flight Central to provide air medical transport to a trauma center. While awaiting arrival, all first responders worked together to package the patient, obtain IV access, administer oxygen, and provide pain medication prior to transport. During transport, the patient was able to receive a unit of blood. Upon arrival to the trauma center, the patient was moved to the trauma bay to be further evaluated, and underwent continued resuscitation. The patient suffered from multiple chest injuries, cervical spinal fractures, spent 13 days in the hospital, yet was discharged to return home and continue his recovery. Paramedic Regoni, EMT Weaver, and all other first responder's immediate life saving interventions and actions directly affected the patient's positive outcome today. Thank you both for providing excellent patient care, and for always striving above and beyond for others within our community. Your hard work does not go unnoticed! #EMSWeek2024 #MonroeAmbulance #RochesterNY #Ambulance #Rochester #TraumaLifesaverAward #KesslerTrauma #GolisanoChildrens #Golisano

It’s #ThrowbackThursday! Meet our Founder, Eileen M. Coyle. Eileen founded Monroe Ambulance in 1975 with just 15 employees and 3 vehicles. Almost 50 years later, Monroe has grown to over 200 employees and 35 vehicles, covering nearly 2,000 square miles within western Monroe County and eastern Orleans County. Through Eileen’s tireless dedication to Monroe Ambulance, we are Monroe County’s only locally-owned and family-operated ambulance agency. Her legacy continues to exemplify the best in customer service and patient care. Eileen’s vision was to provide the highest quality pre-hospital care and hire and train people motivated to serve. She believed that respect leads to healthy bonding and company growth, valuing fairness and teamwork to encourage employee loyalty. Utilizing her enthusiasm and exceptional business values, Eileen navigated many industry changes, instilling her core values of Quality, Compassion, and Integrity into the next generation of management. Under her son Thomas Coyle, CEO and President, her mission lives on with renewed energy and an ‘employee first’ approach. Eileen Coyle left an astonishing legacy that we strive to embody today. Not only was she a successful businesswoman, but she was also deeply involved in her community. Eileen held numerous roles, including founding the Monroe Livingston Regional EMS Council and serving on the 9-1-1 Operating Practices Board. She was the first female president of the NYS Ambulance Association and was involved with the American Ambulance Association (and only female member for 6 years), Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce, and many other organizations. Eileen prioritized serving her community, and her legacy continues through our providers, who care selflessly for their community just as she did. Share your memories or experiences with Monroe Ambulance about Eileen Coyle in the comments below! #ThrowbackThursday #tbt #Legacy #EMS #CommunityFirst #MonroeAmbulance #RochesterNY #Rochester #FirstResponder

Honoring Our Past. Forging Our Future. “May 19-25, 2024 marks the 50th Anniversary of EMS Week. This year’s theme, ‘Honoring Our Past. Forging Our Future,’ reminds us to acknowledge the foundational work of those who came before us, while also striving to build and lead the EMS system we envision for our future.” -ems.gov Over the last 49 years at Monroe Ambulance, we have strived to represent our core values of Quality, Compassion, and Integrity from our providers. Our community is served selflessly from our EMS providers, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. From emergency responses, inter facility transfers, training staff, administrative roles, everything in between, and all those who have come before to pave the way for us all today, words cannot do a justice in thanking all of you for what you have done, and continue to do. Thank you to all who continue to serve their community, and Happy EMS Week! 🚑
