Meet Nicole Allison from our Service Center Division (SCD) Team. What is your role in MEPPI SCD? I am the Program Manager for Operational Excellence. My work entails an ongoing commitment to systematically and continuously improve the processes within our organization to achieve maximum efficiency, productivity, and value for our customers and employees. What do you think is the most important thing about service at MEPPI? When I think of service, what’s most important to me is our people. We can’t deliver excellent service to our customers if our employees don’t have the tools and support in place to assist them. My main objective this year is to do just that, which is enhance our service tool capabilities and centralize our information. Why do you like working at MEPPI? What I love most about MEPPI is the culture and people, especially within our Service Center Division. Each employee, from our technicians to our leadership, brings a unique set of skills and expertise to their role. This diversity of talent enables us to tackle challenges and seize opportunities in ways that would not be possible otherwise. What do you consider to be a great day at work? I am at my best when I’m learning and collaborating. Every day is never the same, which I enjoy. It keeps me on my toes and challenges me to never remain stagnant. Alternative sources of power generation, such as renewables, are typically at great distances from load centers. In these cases, connection through High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) systems is the optimal solution. Mitsubishi Electric’s HVDC-Diamond® technology features the company’s proven Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) technology and apply a Modular Multilevel Converter (MMC) topology for power conversion of high voltage AC to DC. Our Voltage Source Converter (VSC) based HVDC systems have faster responsiveness, independent control of active and reactive power, and a more compact physical footprint. These advantages have expanded the market for HVDC technology into new applications, such as integrating offshore wind farms, black starting islanded loads, and supplying passive networks.
