Robert Wickham ’93, SM ’95. “As I pass on this role, I carry with me not just memories of a year well spent but a renewed commitment to live out the values that MIT has instilled in us all.” https://bit.ly/4bshQne

“Mentors matter for your career pursuits, career satisfaction, but also for your mental health,” says Dara Norman ’88, who credits the late astronomy Professor Jim Elliot ’65, SM ’65 with helping her through some challenges as an MIT undergraduate. “Seek out mentors who can support you, but recognize that one person cannot support all areas in which you might need mentoring.” Norman is now an astronomer and deputy director of the Community Science and Data Center at NOIRLab, researching galaxy evolution, active galactic nuclei (the bright centers of galaxies where gas and dust are being accreted into supermassive black holes), and large-scale structures in the universe. https://bit.ly/4c8PQ8C

MIT Alumni Association reposted this
This past Thursday I had the honor to serve as the Chief Marshall at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology commencement. One of the highlights was listening to Noubar Afeyan’s (cofounder & chairman of Moderna) inspiring address in which he challenged the class of 2024 to get out of their comfort zone and accept their “mission impossible” to tackle some of the worlds hardest problems. Congratulations MIT Class of 2024! 🎉 You can listen to the entire address here: https://lnkd.in/g2b74cXs MIT Alumni Association
