While we're proud of the work we’ve done this budget season, DC’s budget for the upcoming fiscal year (FY2025) falls far short of what is needed to connect our neighbors to life-saving housing and social services. Although we are still a long way from adequate investments in ending homelessness, we know the work continues. About us
Miriam’s Kitchen is a non-profit organization committed to ending chronic and veteran homelessness in Washington, DC. Our approach to ending homelessness begins with a fresh, healthy meal surrounded by meaningful connection and community. From there, we help our neighbors experiencing homelessness improve health, increase income, obtain housing, and remain stably housed through a range of programs and partnerships. We advocate for permanent supportive housing as a long-term solution, and collaborate with leaders city-wide to make instances of homelessness rare, brief and non-recurring.

Thank you for sharing your time and talents with us!
Our American Chemical Society communications division came together to pack kits with essential goods for people experiencing homelessness in the DC area. Volunteering together was a powerful reminder of community spirit and the impact we can make together. I am thankful Wes joined us to share his journey dealing with chronic homelessness to now being a spokesperson at Miriam's Kitchen.

Last week, we set a new record in the MK dining room during our dinner shift – 281 meals served! This milestone is a testament to our amazing Meals team, volunteers and supporters. We've seen a sharp increase in meals in the dining room, and we're asking for your support to provide healthy, high-quality meals to everyone who comes to our dining room. Together, we can continue to make a difference in supporting our neighbors in need: https://bit.ly/MKdonate

We are proud to be one of the non-profits receiving support from The Washington Home. Thank you for supporting our work and mission to end chronic homelessness in DC! 💚
Transformational Impact: Following its inaugural 2024 open call for grant proposals in March, The Washington Home (TWH) is proud to announce its award of over $4.2M in grants to 31 local non-profit organizations making a transformational difference for DC-area older adults and the critically ill. TWH provides funding to entities that create and deliver innovative, compassionate, and well-managed programs to improve the quality of life for older and/or terminally ill residents in the Washington, DC area. We invest in local, community efforts that address social isolation, caregiver relief, food insecurity, and specialized health care. Since becoming a foundation four years ago, TWH has granted a total of $21.3M to support the community.
