Minyard Morris was thrilled to sponsor the South Asian Bar Association of Southern California's annual gala, and to celebrate our partner, Janani Rana, recipient of this year’s Trailblazer Award. Janani’s award was introduced by a trailblazer in her own right, Franita Tolson, Dean of the USC Gould School of Law. Dean Tolson is the first black dean in the law school’s history. The evening was made even more special with empowering remarks from Keynote Speaker Luis Céspedes, Judicial Appointments Secretary in the Office of the Governor. Congratulations to Janani and the other SABA-SC award recipients– the Honorable Shashi Kewalramani, United States Magistrate Judge for the Central District of California, Eastern Division with the Judicial Award, and Maya Roy, Chief Deputy of Operations for the United States District Court for the Central District of California, with the Public Interest Award. Finally, congratulations to the new SABA-SC board of directors, which includes Janani Rana and Minyard Morris attorney Aditi Murillo. Minyard Morris looks forward to continuing its support of SABA-SC.

Five Minyard Morris attorneys, Aditi Murillo, John P. Murillo, Samantha Sheehan, Jennifer Corona, and Jackie Uberin completed courses at the distinguished National Family Law Trial Institute in Houston, Texas. Jennifer Corona and Jackie Uberin completed the intensive 8-day Kolodny Trial Skills course. Aditi Murillo, Samantha Sheehan, and John P. Murillo completed the Advanced Child Custody program. Thank you to all the faculty and staff at the National Family Law Trial Institute for providing invaluable insights and wisdom and fostering a dynamic learning environment to guide our future leaders of family law.

Congratulations to Scott Savage, CFLS who was certified by the State Bar of California this week as a Certified Family Law Specialist. Murillo, Samantha Sheehan, and Jackie Uberin.

On March 30, 2024, Orange County Board Supervisor, Katrina Anne Foley, celebrated women in law at her 3rd annual Women’s History Month Brunch. In attendance was our very own, Jennifer Corona. It was powerful to see so many inspiring women receive awards, and to celebrate Orange County Women Lawyers Association for being named Organization of the Year. Congratulations to all of the deserving awardees. We are inspired by their hard work and dedication to the legal community.

On March 28, 2024, Minyard Morris Partner Janani Rana joined Filemon Carrillo and Caroline Djang in speaking to the Orange County Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division about building a book of business. Each presenter shared tips for growing business, networking, and retaining clients - all crucial considerations for young lawyers aspiring to develop their careers. Congratulations to Minyard Morris attorney Aditi Murillo, as well as Sahar Scioneaux, Esq.. and Jazlyn Cabula, Committee Leaders for the Education Committee of the Young Lawyers Division, for organizing and putting together this successful event.

On March 15, 2024, Partner Matthew S. Buttacavoli, the current President of CRF OC, volunteered with other members of CRF-OC Board of Directors and members of the Orange County legal community at CRF-OC’s annual Career Forum. The Orange County Career Forum annually connects nearly 1,000 high school students with professionals and community leaders. Students from across Orange County come together on the campus of Orange Coast College to attend workshops that expose them to careers in such diverse fields as law enforcement, medicine, and video game development, as well as important life skills such as preparing for a successful job interview.

Congratulations to John P. Murillo, Aditi Murillo, Samantha Sheehan and Scott Savage, Esq.! All four of the Minyard Morris attorneys who took the Certified Family Law Specialist Examination in November 2023 learned today that they passed the exam. Cheers to them and their very bright futures. We are all so proud of you.
