According to NBC News an estimated 6,000 construction workers died by suicide in 2022. Long hours, high-pressure deadlines, and risk of workplace injury are all said to be significant contributing factors. Early detection of suicidal thoughts is key. MindMetrix administers the Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS): a series of questions used to assess suicide risk. Created by Dr. Kelly Posner Gerstenhaber & made available by the Columbia University lighthouse project, the C-SSRS is widely known as the best scale for assessing an individual’s suicide risk.
