Mindful Life Project’s team of 65 dedicated, passionate and mission driven staff completed programming for the 2023-2024 school year in our 75 schools this week! We send our deepest gratitude to the students, educators and families we are so lucky to serve and work with. While we are living in a time where there is a tragic mental health crisis for youth and adults, we want to highlight that there are also glimmers of hope, powerful healing, and innovative and comprehensive collaborations towards approaching mental health both “upstream” and “downstream”. With over 8,000 3rd -8th graders surveyed, 91 percent reported that MLP programs improved their mental health. With over 350 teachers surveyed 90 percent report that MLP programs improved their mental health. MLP provides programming from a deeply relational and connected way with all students and educators within a school community to bring everyone in the school ecosystem along a deeply impactful wellness journey. Please help us grow this work by referring us to schools, connecting us to funders, and advocating for mental health to be a priority for schools.

We are so excited to be in partnership with Unlikely Collaborators!
📣 We are beyond excited to have announced today a transformative project with Mindful Life Project (MLP) that will bring their mindfulness programming to Los Angeles area schools. MLP has successful rolled the program out to 13 cities across the San Francisco Bay Area serving more than 75 schools a year, providing a foundation of mental and emotional wellbeing so that schools can go from historically stress-and trauma-inducing places to spaces of healing and empowerment for students, teachers and communities. ✨ Photo Credit: Kaiser Permanente #mindfulness #education #wellbeing #socialemotionallearning #PerceptionBox

12 years ago today, our founder, JG Larochette, and his third graders in room 18 at Coronado Elementary school completed the creation of the pilot and JG took a big jump into the unknown of starting the nonprofit work that now has served over 300,000 students, their educators and families with weekly multi year comprehensive mindfulness based programming. We send our deepest gratitude to all the students, educators, educational leaders, families, funders, supporters, partners and allies! ❤️

Mental Health Awareness (and action) month is here! Let’s start by becoming our own bff ❤️ Let the “inner friend” grow and the “inner critic” go. Due to so many factors, including the wiring of our brain having a default negative bias and we are highly effected by societal conditioning, we often are extremely self critical and have inner narratives that create the storylines in our mind that can make us feel a lack of self worth, a lack of belonging, isolated and much more. If the “inner critic” can grow that means we can also grow the “inner friend.” A mindfulness technique that helps grow the inner friend is training ourselves to have gratitude and compassion for our authentic self and befriending our inner experiences. By taking time each day to cultivate gratitude for ourselves through a lens of compassion and celebrate what makes us unique while tapping into our inner resilience we can slowly start to eliminate the inner critic. Ideally we can start the day by doing this. Try it out, either with your eyes closed or looking with connection into the mirror think of things that you are grateful for about yourself and send yourself compassion and love. It might be hard at first but the more we practice the more it will grow! #mindfulness #compassion #love #selflove #gratitude #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawarenessmonth #wellness #emotionalhealth #wellbeing
