Since 1878, Milwaukee Public Library has been a free provider of education and information for residents of Milwaukee and beyond. With 13 locations and more than three million items in circulation, MPL offers free access to a rich collection of materials both physical and digital, access to technology, classes, exhibitions, programming, and more. From toddlers to scholars, MPL serves more than one million patrons who come through its doors annually and many more around the globe who use its resources at www.mpl.org. Trina Nicole of Fly Nails LLC, a thriving Black/Latinx-owned nail studio which focuses on creating an unforgettable experience for their clients, will present her small business success story from ideation to fruition, including the steps taken, barriers she came up against and how she overcame them, and any tips or advice she would impart to fellow entrepreneurs. Attendees are empowered to ask questions during the presentation.

    The Milwaukee Public Library is seeking to hire part-time Temporary Community Education Assistants. These positions will work within the One MKE Civic Engagement Program and community to increase awareness of available government programs and provide voter resources to residents across the City of Milwaukee.     Gather the whole family for summer reading and kickoff featuring hands-on activities for kids and teens this Saturday, June 8th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Milwaukee Central Library. • Create a journal with the Betty Brinn Children's Museum. Participants can assemble, bind, and decorate their journals. • Customize a bookmark with Discovery World using laser-cut craft wood, beads, markers, tassels, and ribbons. Also, learn about how energy is all around us by interacting with a plasma globe. • Make soft sculptures with the Milwaukee Art Museum in several fun “summery” shapes. • Go on a Fossil Frenzy with the Milwaukee Public Museum! Participants will learn about fossilization and its importance in paleontology using real fossils from MPM. You’ll also be able to make a fossil with air-dry clay.
