A bar association for military spouse attorneys and law students.
About us
The Military Spouse JD Network is a bar association for military spouses. We support military spouses in the legal professions by: * advocating for bar membership without examination for military spouse attorneys in every state, * educating the community about the challenges facing military families, and * providing a network for spouses to connect with and support each other. MSJDN includes military spouses and partners from all five branches of the United States Military: Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, and Navy as well as spouses of retired service members and legal and military organizations who support our mission. MSJDN provides a model rule for bar licensing authorities interested in supporting military families through admission without examination of military spouse attorneys. MSJDN supports such a rule change in each jurisdiction.

📢 Exciting News! 📢 We are thrilled to announce the passage of Washington, DC's military spouse admissions rule! This new rule allows military spouse attorneys to gain temporary admission to the DC Bar, making it easier for them to continue their legal careers despite the frequent relocations that come with military life. This is a significant step forward in supporting our military families and ensuring that talented attorneys can keep practicing law wherever the military sends them. Learn more about the rule here: https://ow.ly/M5wH50Sp9SB Thank you to everyone who advocated for this important change! ⚖️ #MilitarySpouse #LegalProfession #MSJDN #DCBar

The DOL Women's Bureau hosted a webinar on the state of licensing for military spouses. Because attorneys have been excluded from the general licensing waiver rule for militaryspouses, MSJDN was invited to speak specifically to issues affecting military spouse attorneys. You can access the webinar at this link. https://lnkd.in/eqHYNfYh

Today is MSJDN's Founders' Day! In 2011, MSJDN was formed by two military spouses frustrated with the challenges of maintaining a legal career that seemed incompatible with the military lifestyle. They formed MSJDN to advocate for licensing accommodations for military spouses, including bar membership without additional examination, as well as network with other military spouses with JDs. Since 2011, MSJDN has been a leader among military family organizations in advocating for licensing accommodations for military spouse attorneys and educating communities on the value of working military spouses. Supporting military spouse employment not only improves the lives of military families, it increases the readiness and retention of the Armed Forces. Today, more military spouse attorneys are able to practice law, due in part to MSJDN’s decade of advocacy. We encourage our members and supporters to get together with others in your area (or even virtually with those who aren't!) to celebrate Founders' Day when your schedule allows and enjoy the fellowship that being involved with MSJDN provides! #whyimsjdn #FoundersDay
