Advanced direct-writing plasma printing solutions to drive innovation in microfabrication
About us
Next generation applications in the fields of biochips, MEMS, optics, photonics, quantum devices and microelectronics require advance and versatile microfabrication processes to realize their industrialization and adoption. At MicroQuasar Technologies, we develop efficient and sustainable advanced microplasma solutions to empower the manufacturing and prototyping of next generation applications that require high resolution and precise surface modification, using the finest maskless atmospheric-pressure plasmas (APP). Our patent-pending, state-of-the-art plasma source “MicroPulsar”, is an innovative device that generates a highly stable and reactive plasma discharge, with at least 14x finer footprint than current APP devices in the market. Our high resolution Surface Atmospheric-Pressure Plasma Printing (SurfAP3) technology is powered by MicroPulsar and addresses the unmet need for maskless micrometer-scale surface modification using plasma. It can achieve precise activation, functionalization, deposition, cleaning and layer removal -without masks or patterned electrodes. Starting at 35 μm, it offers at least 14x finer resolution than comparable plasma-based solutions, while being cost-efficient and environmentally friendly, in particular when compared with wet chemistry approaches. Our innovations can be used in applications for life sciences, microfabrication, electronics, photonics and additive manufacturing, among others. MicroQuasar Technologies is a spin-off of the Leibniz Institute for Plasma Science and Technology, in Greifswald, Germany.

A week ago we had an exciting and proud day: not only we pitched at the final session of the HIGH-TECH.NRW program, but we also exhibited for the first time our prototype of the desktop plasma printer MicroQosmos. This means that for the first time, we took our device out of the lab, transported it around 600 km (from Greifswald to Dortmund), installed it on site (thanks Wilo Group for hosting us!) and got it to work almost immediately! This talks about the stage of development where we are (a fully functional prototype in TRL 5) and how we have designed our solution for modularity, convenience and precision 😉 Our plan is to continue the development to offer not only better features, the best user experience and more use cases, but also to deliver the world's most precise and versatile plasma printing platform to drive innovation in microfabrication ⭐ We thank the great support and collaboration from the Leibniz Institute for Plasma Science and Technology (INP Greifswald) e.V., who made it possible for us to participate and bring our device. #plasmaprinting #startups #technology
