  • 🚨ALERT🚨 PEERPOCALYPSE UPDATES INCOMING! PeerPocalypse is just nine months away, and we're deep into the planning phase. The next step? YOU! We’re thrilled to announce that applications for workshops, scholarships, and the advisory committee will open on Monday, August 5. This year’s theme is C.H.A.N.G.E: Community, Hope, Action, Networking, Giving, and Evolution. We’re seeking dynamic workshop proposals and advisory committee members who embody these values to help us create an enriching experience for peers from across the country. Scholarship Opportunities: We have four scholarships available specifically for Oregon peers. To ensure fairness, please apply for only one scholarship at a time. If your application is not selected for the scholarship you applied for, we may consider you for other opportunities that better fit your needs. We particularly encourage applications from individuals who identify as needing additional financial support and/or are from organizations with ten or fewer staff members. This helps us ensure that assistance is directed where it’s needed most. Stay tuned for more information! #Peerpocalypse #PeerSupportStrong #WeAreCHANGE

  • Last Wednesday marked a significant milestone with the launch of the Police-Provider Joint Connection Project in Portland. This pioneering initiative represents a strategic enhancement in how our city approaches public safety and social support. The project aims to integrate social service providers with police efforts to deliver a more cohesive and effective response to community needs. Since the first pilot's inception in December 2023, it has far exceeded expectations by helping almost 300 people connect with community resources, with 140 receiving same-day access to treatment and recovery services! This success highlights the vital role that support from city leaders and elected officials has played. Their commitment and active support have been crucial in making this project a reality and driving its impressive outcomes. As Multnomah County Chair Jessica Vega Pederson puts it, "This has shown what’s possible when we engage with people, meet with people and we have a place for people to go." By aligning these crucial sectors, we anticipate a more effective approach to mental health challenges, substance use support, and other essential services. The positive impact of this project will extend far beyond immediate interventions, contributing to long-term community resilience and well-being. A big thank you to everyone involved and to our dedicated city leaders for their unwavering support in bringing this vision to life!
