🌟 Celebrating Women in Aviation Month: Spotlight on First Officer Ashley Delhotal 🌟 As Women in Aviation month comes to a close, we wanted to highlight one more remarkable journey, that of First Officer Ashley Delhotal. Her passion for flying was ignited at a young age, and she’s now soaring high in the skies, leaving a legacy that spans generations. ✈ From Childhood Dreams to the Cockpit ✈ Ashley’s fascination with aviation began early. Growing up surrounded by pilots—cousins, grandparents, and her mom, a captain for United Airlines—she absorbed the magic of flight. It was her mom’s influence that sparked the joy and set her on a trajectory toward the cockpit. At just 15 years old, Ashley took her first steps toward the clouds. She embarked on her training journey at ATP, laying the foundation for her future career. But it was her time instructing at United Aviates facility in Goodyear that truly solidified her passion for aviation. 🛩 A Redbird Takes Flight 🛩 Ashley’s path led her to Illinois State University, where she majored in communication studies with an emphasis on organizational leadership. As she graduated in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, she faced both challenges and opportunities. While working as an account executive at Nexstar Media in Rockford, she kept her eyes on the skies. 👩✈️ The Decision to Soar Professionally 👩✈️ After saving up and resuming her flying lessons as a hobby, Ashley had an epiphany. Sitting in her car one day, she realized, “Why am I not doing this as a job?” The thrill of piloting an aircraft had captured her heart, and she was determined to turn her passion into a profession. ⭐ From Mesa to United: A Family Legacy Continues ⭐ Now, as a First Officer flying the E-175 plane for Mesa, Ashley is living her dream. She’s part of a lineage that began with her mom, Suzanne Delhotal, who flew as a First Officer on a 737 for United Airlines in the 1980s. Despite her mom’s battle with multiple sclerosis (MS), Ashley carried the torch forward. Ashley’s ultimate goal? To transition to United through their Aviate program and continue the family legacy. Her story exemplifies resilience, determination, and the joy of following one’s passion. At Mesa Airlines, we celebrate women who defy gravity, break barriers, and command the flight deck. Our female aviators are found in every facet of our airline, from maintaining aircraft to dispatching flights. There’s nothing they can’t do! If you’re ready to start your climb in aviation, join us and learn from the ground up. 👉 Explore pilot opportunities at www.mesa-air.com👈 Ashley Delhotal’s journey reminds us that the sky is limitless, and dreams can take flight. Let’s continue to uplift and empower women in aviation, honoring their contributions to the skies above. #womeninaviation #familylegacy #empowerwomen #firstofficer #aviationcareer #united #mesaairlines
