Mercy hosted it's first ever “I’m A Mercy Baby” Shower of Giving as part of the We Are 150 Employee Engagement Initiative! This 2-day, volunteer-driven affair held the Friday and Saturday preceding Mother’s Day offered individuals born at Mercy the opportunity to “pay it forward” by supporting babies of the future. Mercy employees collected baby supplies for future Mercy babies as well as families at B’more for Healthy Babies, an innovative initiative to help reduce infant mortality in Baltimore City. A community-wide celebration and collection on behalf of Mercy babies was also held. Mercy partnered with M&T Bank for this special weekend. https://lnkd.in/eV38cabN

Earlier this year, Mercy was honored with being recognized by Forbes as one of the top 400 midsize employers in the US! Mercy was one of only two Maryland healthcare organizations named as a Best Employer for 2024. This recognition is a heartwarming reflection of our unique culture and community of compassionate care. This prestigious recognition from Forbes, a leading national business publication, is determined based on surveys of over 170,000 participants across the country. Produced with the market research firm Statista, survey responses were given by current employees, employees who had worked for the company within the past two years, and individuals familiar with the company through friends, family or peers in their industry.

Today, we recognize and celebrate Juneteenth. We reflect on two of Mercy's longstanding values of Dignity and Justice. We base our relationships with all people on fairness, equality and integrity. We celebrate the inherent value of each person as created in the image of God. And, we welcome all people of every creed, color, economic and social condition into our community of compassionate care.  Juneteenth – also known as Freedom Day, Jubilee Day and Liberation Day – is a commemoration of June 19, 1865 when a group of approximately 250,000 enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas learned of their freedom by the announcement of General Order No. 3 from Union Army General Gordon Granger that proclaimed freedom from slavery.

Our Values Based Leadership Spring Cohort has graduated! The spirit and community of the Sisters of Mercy was evident in this group of current and future Mercy leaders. We wish them continued success in their careers here! Through presentations and discussions, participants from a variety of departments learn about leadership the Mercy way through our Values Based Leadership program. Over the course of several weeks, this cohort established connections across departments, talked about how mission & values inspires everything we do, and spent time with some of Mercy's top leaders, hearing their perspective on what Leadership means to them.
