💡 Did you know that your state may be eligible for federal funding to promote smart manufacturing technologies? Or that your state or local governments may be eligible for federal funding supporting battery recycling programs? The DOE Manufacturing & Energy Supply Chains Office (MESC) has programs for state governments to increase access to smart manufacturing and for state and local governments to establish or enhance 🔋 battery collection, #recycling, and reprocessing programs. Through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, $50 million was made available for states to accelerate the adoption of smart #manufacturing technologies among their small- and medium-sized manufacturers. Another $50 million has been made available for local #batteryrecycling projects. Join #MESC for an informational recap webinar on the “State Manufacturing Leadership Program and the State and Local Battery Collection, Recycling, and Reprocessing Program,” 📅 Thursday, July 11, 2024, at 3pm ET. Register for the webinar here: https://lnkd.in/ePA_9MeA. #stategovernment #localgovernment

📅 As we begin Q3, we thought it would be fun to take a look back at a few of our Q2 projects and visits. Here's just a few of the awesome teams we worked with this quarter! 📸 1: Voyant Beauty has leveraged a strong connection with non-native English speaking populations to fill its positions and we are pleased to announce their 3rd and 4th cohorts have graduated the 15 weeks long program! 📸 2: A group of very dedicated Liberty Casting employees completed ESL training as well! We are so proud of them and can't wait to see their continued growth! Congratulations, grads! 🎓 📸 3: In May, we celebrated our largest ASPECT cohort to date and welcomed 12 companies to interview day. 📸 4: Did you know that the Ohio Penal Industries trash bag operation produces trash liners in various sizes and manufactures multiple styles of bags? How about that OPI will begin producing nitrile gloves at the end of this summer? Thanks to a tour and conversation provided by the fantastic ODR&C team at the London Correctional Institution, the MEP at Columbus State learned about the variety of manufacturing that is being conducted by nearly 1200 incarcerated adults throughout the state of Ohio.

Becoming a second chance employer is an incredible step to investing in our communities! In conjunction with The Ohio Manufacturers' Association Good Jobs Challenge grant and the Central Ohio Manufacturing Partnership (COMP), the MEP at Columbus State is at the forefront of providing training to justice impacted individuals to give them the skills to be #ManufacturingReady in just 3 weeks! To learn more about the program, including how manufacturing employers can take advantage of this talent pipeline, visit our page here https://lnkd.in/gnEiZCfy or drop a comment below to connect.
As manufacturers look to expand their talent pool, one often overlooked demographic is second chance citizens – people who were previously incarcerated and are ready to return to the workforce. These individuals often bring valuable skills and a willingness to learn and grow with your company. Manufacturers have seen success with more than 80% of managers report that the value these workers bring to companies is just as high as the value that their employees without criminal records provide, according to The Manufacturing Institute - MI. Promising outcomes like these are why the Purdue Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) (Indiana MEP Center) training program, Manufacturing Skills for Success (MS4S), has resonated with second chance citizens.
