Programs & Mission Impact Director Shana DeFelice is celebrating her two-year anniversary with #MealsonWheelsRI along with being named one of Providence Business News 40 Under Forty Rhode Island professionals!! Shana's passion for making a difference led her to Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island, where she eagerly became a vital part of an organization dedicated to serving the needs of older adults. She goes on to say, "we have an aging population and I want to be part of what allows them to age with dignity." As a lifelong Rhode Islander, Shana finds immense pride in the crucial work of providing meals to those in need. "I have a great team here at Meals on Wheels and it's the best place to work," she shared enthusiastically. For her, slowing down and listening to the needs of those around her has really allowed her to grow professionally. Leading by example, Shana strives each day to inspire her team. Aside from working with her team, Shana loves delivering our adopted "Staff" route and visiting with clients. And when she's not working towards the delivery of our next 20 million meals, Shana's chauffeur extraordinaire to her three beautiful children! #MeettheTeam #LeadershipTeam #Programs #MissionImpact #PBN40UForty #Congratulations

Special Projects Assistant Andrea Aguilar joined our team in February of this year because #MealsonWheelsRI made a lasting impression with her at a young age. Andrea shares that the organization visited her third-grade classroom. The volunteers told the children about the work of Meals on Wheels and the kids created Christmas cards to be delivered with the meals. Back then Andrea says she was very appreciative for what MOWRI did for seniors, and it just stuck with her. She says, "I still think about that memory from time to time and now I'm happy to be part of something that can inspire other people." Fun fact: Andrea played the flute for 10 years and is looking to pick up the hobby again soon! #MeettheTeam #LastingImpression #Inspiration

🎉 Earlier this month our team at Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island had the incredible opportunity to participate in this year's grantees conference, the Innovations in Nutrition Synergy Summit, hosted by the Nutrition and Aging Resource Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Our dedicated Community Health Workers, Maya Hussein and Amelia Lusi, delved into workshops covering Research Projects Innovation and Sustainability, Digital Nourishment and AI, Public Relations, Media, and Communication. We're eager to implement the best practices gleaned from these sessions into our ongoing research efforts. Stay tuned for updates on our journey! #Research #InnovationsInNutrition #MoreThanAMeal
