Last week marked Week 1 of the McKinstry Heavy Metal Summer Experience! The 6-week program, led by McKinstry skilled trades professionals, introduces students from Highline Public Schools in Seattle to the basics of sheet metal, plumbing, piping and HVAC; and opportunities to explore union career opportunities in the skilled construction trades. As part of the program, students get hooked up with boots from Redwing and tool sets from Milwaukee; tour Local 32, 46 and 66 facilities; visit McKinstry job sites; develop projects and gain industry experience.
