Our friend Christian Gebauer, Head of Hydrogen Systems R&D at Heraeus Precious Metals, gave a great presentation at the Electrochemical Society Meeting about the need to reduce iridium content in #PEMelectolyzers for #greenhydrogen to scale. The presentation, with contributions from our Head of Product, Michael Ashley, PhD, and Director of Chemistry, Jordan Swisher, is titled “Novel Ru-Based PEM Electrolysis Catalyst – Development from the Nano- to the Industrial-Scale.” It highlighted the innovation resulting from our collaboration with Heraeus, showcasing the power of rapid electrochemical systems development across scales. Together with my colleague Todd Ballinger, I recently had an opportunity to attend the ECS - The Electrochemical Society Conference in San Francisco – a great event where the industry R&D meets academia. The conference agenda was filled with numerous compelling presentations and I was thrilled to be part of the #electrolyzer track. It was truly rewarding to see high interest from the audience, with every chair taken, and even some attendees standing. Here are the topics I covered in my presentation during the 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐬 session: 🔹#Iridium-market and challenges for PEM EL scale-up 🔹Identifying concepts for Ir savings in PEM EL anode catalysts and electrodes 🔹Newest results about the #ruthenium-based low-iridium catalysts in cooperation with Mattiq The conference not only provided valuable insights into new materials and optimized systems but underscored the importance of collaborative initiatives between academia and industry. Thank you, ECS, for this enriching experience! Do you have any questions or comments about the deep-dive into iridium market or our new ruthenium-based catalyst? So, use the opportunity and meet us in person next week at hy-fcell – International Expo and Conference Canada! Find more details here: https://lnkd.in/eTN-dycE
