We're excited to share a sweet life update from Tanya, a single mom who came to Mary's Place while she was pregnant with her baby girl, Bella. Tanya was connected to Mary's Place through her participation in the Substance Using Pregnant People (SUPP) Program at Swedish Ballard. At Mary's Place, she found a safe, accepting place to continue her treatment, work toward her housing goals, and get the support she needed during and after pregnancy. “Mary’s Place provided me with the help I needed to take a second chance at a happy life," she shared, "Today, we're stably housed, I'm studying to become a substance abuse counselor, and Bella is blossoming into a smart, fun-loving kid!"

Exciting news! With the expansion of the Seattle CARE Department, we have a system that doesn't just respond to crises but walks alongside individuals every step of the way, addressing both the immediate needs of navigating complex systems and accessing the resources they need and deserve, but long-term goals and challenges. By creating a truly coordinated, person-centric continuum of care, we can transform how we support our neighbors most impacted by inequities and move from merely managing crises to fostering genuine, lasting change in people's lives.
Today, at a press conference at Seattle University, "Mayor Bruce Harrell announced his proposal to expand the Community Assisted Response and Engagement (CARE) department behavioral health responder team, hiring additional responders and expanding citywide, seven days a week following the success of the dual dispatch pilot launched last October." Please read the attached article released by the Mayor's Office earlier today: https://lnkd.in/gD2HHzg7

Thanks to Birthday Dreams, kids at Mary’s Place get to see their birthday wishes come true! “The birthday parties Birthday Dreams throws for our kids are an important way for them to feel a sense of normalcy and to be celebrated in all the traditional ways a child’s birthday is celebrated surrounded by their friends,” said Zoë Bill, Youth Services Director at Mary’s Place. Mary’s Place is one of 80 agencies that Birthday Dreams partners with to ensure that kids staying in shelters experience the joy and hope of a birthday party and we’re so grateful for their important work! 🥳 🧁 💜

“To be able to come into a building or a space that was designed for you and feels like you’re wanted is an incredible gift, and that is exactly what Graphite provided for us here.” - Marty Hartman, former Executive Director of Mary’s Place Family Center. We had the privilege of sitting down with Marty before she left Mary's Place in December to learn more about how the Regrade location is working for the organization and the families they support.
