About us
The Maricopa County Assessor's Office identifies, lists and values all property within Maricopa County. We work to fairly and equitably value over 1.8 million real property parcels and personal property accounts on an annual basis which total a full cash value of over $717 billion as of 2022. The accuracy of this data is critical to the fair distribution of property taxes that fund local school districts, towns, cities, and Maricopa County. The Assessor's Office does not set the property tax rates or collect property taxes. Each school district, city, and the Board of Supervisors for Maricopa County establish the property tax rates according to their needs in a public forum and the Maricopa County Treasurer's Office then acts to collect taxes. To assist the public, we operate the property tax exemption programs, provide public data on parcels both on our website and in a map function, and work with the public if they appeal their property values. Our office seeks to continuously improve the service we provide for Maricopa County residents and be an international leader in the property tax administration and assessment field.

Last week Assessor Cook and our Innovations team visited the Town of Gilbert to meet with their Performance Management and Data Governance team and share ideas to refine our strategies so that we can best serve the public. With the help of Gilbert, our office is establishing operational performance metrics so that we can identify core service lines, processes, current data sources, and goals. This framework helps guide our office in accomplishing one of our strategic goals regarding Process Development and Improvement. Collaborating with others is critical for service innovation, and the insights shared by Gilbert will help our Innovations team refine their strategy to implement operational performance metrics so that we can continue to improve our processes. Thank you to the Town of Gilbert for all of your help!

Yesterday, we held our Employee Recognition and Appreciation event. Dozens of team members were recognized for their exceptional work and years of service, and in-person attendees got a chance to participate in games and activities to really make the afternoon special. Our Innovations Strategist, Christine Ehrbar, spoke at The Innovation Studio at Maricopa County yesterday for their Spring Symposium. She spoke on how she and her team use "retrospectives" to drive incremental improvement in our office. Christine gave the step-by-step process on how our retrospectives were put together, the tools used during this process, and how "looking forward from behind" has benefited our office. The work that Christine and our entire Innovations team do has been invaluable to our office, and we are thrilled that she was able to share these tactics. Great job, Christine, and thank you to the Innovations Studio for putting on such a great event!
