Senior Ranger Jerry Miller’s passion for land preservation and conservation is evident in his daily encounters with visitors to Duette Preserve and the wildlife that lives there. He regularly videotapes and photographs the wildlife he sees—which is often shared on the County’s social media. This includes a Florida panther video earlier this year which received 12,000 views and nearly 270 reactions and was covered by both local and national news. A seven-year employee of Manatee County, Miller was selected as the July Employee of the Month. “Jerry’s knowledge of land preservation and doing 'Work that Matters' in his hometown is a real blessing for Manatee County,” said Lacy Pritchard, Records & Information Management Manager. “His ‘lead by positivity’ sets a great example to all of those who choose to do work that matters."

Manatee County team members— Tracie Adams, Jessica Roberts and Kelly Lipp of Community & Veterans Services and John Hamel of IT—mentored five CareerSource Suncoast Summer Youth Employment Program participants. A collaboration with 26 West Center, the program enables local middle- and high-school students to dip their toes in the workforce and start developing soft skills.

After earning her Bachelor of Science in Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Tampa, Brianna began her career as a Telecommunicator with Manatee County in 2016. She quickly discovered her passion for 911 services and excelled, rising to the rank of Senior Telecommunicator and being promoted to Lieutenant in 2020. Brianna truly embodies the core values of our Emergency Communications Center team: Positive Work Environment, Respect, Accountability, Commitment, Teamwork, Integrity, Competence, and Empathy.
