    Planning a Fourth of July cookout? You might find some great holiday deals at the grocery store this week. But what about next week? Sticker shock returns. To tackle high grocery prices, a bipartisan group of lawmakers has introduced the Lower Grocery Prices Act. This bill, backed by Representatives Marc Molinaro, Pat Ryan, Juan Ciscomani, and Don Davis, aims to address the cost of living crisis by analyzing grocery prices over the past 20 years and developing a national plan to combat inflation. Representative Ryan said, “Ahead of July 4th, as we all gather for barbecues, beers, and parades, I’m taking direct action to bring down costs and deliver relief.” Molinaro added, “As Upstate New Yorkers are stocking up on groceries for July 4th, it's hard to ignore the skyrocketing prices.” While past reports blame supply chain issues for price hikes, the new bill seeks more direct action. As grocery prices continue to climb, this act could be the first step towards relief for consumers. But little did we know that we were witnessing the early steps of an Olympic champion in the making. Today, we're bursting with pride as we celebrate Morgan's incredible journey from our offices in Boulder, Colorado, to the world stage of the 2024 Paris Olympics. 𝗔 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗕𝗼𝗿𝗻 𝗔𝘁𝗵𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗨𝗻𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲 Born in Washington, D.C., and raised in New Jersey, Morgan's athletic talents were evident from an early age. However, his unwavering determination and work ethic truly set him apart. In a testament to his extraordinary abilities, Morgan qualified for the National triathlon team in his first year of competition—a feat that left seasoned athletes and coaches in awe. 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆, 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗥𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 Morgan's ascent in the world of triathlon has been nothing short of meteoric. He etched his name in the annals of American sports history by becoming the first U.S. male to qualify for a triathlon in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. There, he showcased his team spirit and world-class skills by helping secure a silver medal for the USA in the Mixed Relay event. But Morgan wasn't done making history. In May 2024, he achieved another first - becoming the first American man to win a World Triathlon Series event since 2009. His victory at the WTCS Yokohama was a masterclass in strategy, endurance, and sheer willpower, cementing his status as a top contender for Olympic gold in Paris. 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝘁𝗵𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲 While Morgan's athletic achievements are awe-inspiring, those who know him understand that he's so much more than his triathlon accomplishments. During his time at Makeena, we were continually impressed by his intellectual curiosity. Morgan's well-rounded nature and genuine enthusiasm for life inspire us all.     This week, Foxtrot, the popular on-demand convenience store startup, has abruptly ceased operations. This news comes as a surprise to many, as Foxtrot had been seen as a rising star in the retail technology space. While the exact reasons for the shutdown are not yet clear, it serves as a reminder of the challenges and volatility that startups often face. Rapid growth and innovation can be quickly followed by unexpected setbacks and closures. This is certainly a difficult time for the Foxtrot team and all those impacted. As the startup ecosystem continues to evolve, it's important to reflect on the lessons from companies like Foxtrot's successes and failures.     🛒💰 Curious about the soaring grocery prices? 🤔 The blame game is on, but according to a recent survey by The Feedback Group, most shoppers point fingers at the government. 😱 Yet, there's more to the story than meets the eye. While retailers may not bear the brunt of the blame, they're not off the hook. Only 40% believe their go-to store has their back in the price war. But fear not, savvy shoppers are adapting! From hunting down sales to embracing store brands to using cash and rewards apps like Makeena, everyone is tightening her/his belt. 👜💡 But wait, there's more! The Federal Trade Commission's recent report suggests that retailers and manufacturers are to blame, accusing them of using supply chain disruptions as an excuse to pad their pockets. 💼💸 However, perceptions often stray from reality.
