BFT has just received an exciting innovation grant to push research on OurCarbon’s use in the built environment into new areas! ⬇ ⬇ ⬇ The 4 Corners Carbon Coalition, comprising Boulder County, City of Santa Fe, Salt Lake City Corporation, City of Flagstaff, and City of Albuquerque has chosen four innovative companies to advance the management of ‘liability biomass’ in ways that advance the fight to mitigate climate change. City of Flagstaff Sustainability Director Nicole Antonopoulos puts it best when describing the impact our technology can have: “This year’s focus on liability biomass has sparked some truly groundbreaking ideas. Who would have imagined the realm of possibilities for integrating carbon removal with core municipal services like wastewater treatment or landfill operations? The potential impact and scale of these innovations is immense.” The $50,000 Catalytic Grant will initiate research and pilots using OurCarbon in asphalt and dry cast concrete to validate the management strategy for biosolids in the region. We will be working with Flagstaff producer Block-Lite to pilot dry cast concrete products and will then have them tested in Braun Intertec Corporation’s lab to validate durability. Braun Intertec will also be heading up testing of OurCarbon in asphalt. When Studio Nima approached OurCarbon to join the Outdoor by ISPO Material Lab, we were wary of being able to communicate OurCarbon's many applications without being there in person. The confident curation by Studio Nima proved that our material can speak for itself when given the right stage! The exhibit showcased Virus inks Rethink Black screen printing ink, Wearlight, PLA Pellets like those used by Model No. Furniture, and dye samples on Bananatex® fabric all colored with OurCarbon's carbon negative black pigment. In an industry rife with synthetic performance products, opportunities to make the switch to bio-based can be hard to find! OurCarbon can achieve a black color in various parts of an outdoor product without sacrificing performance and without a fossil fuel origin. Made from 100% organic waste stopped from going to landfill, this material can keeps CO2 out of the atmosphere in multiple ways. #outdoorbyISPO #biobased #sustainablematerials #nextgenmaterials

OurCarbon and Model No. Furniture are headed to NeoCon as exhibitors in Metropolis Magazine's Sustainability Lab! This exhibition will showcase Model No.'s waste free manufacturing practice and OurCarbon's waste based black pigment working hand in hand to help decarbonize furniture. Keep a lookout for Phillip Raub, Kelly Holbrook, and Renata (Vieira) Walsh of Model No. as well as Garrett Benisch who will be joining in the last two days of the show!

Here's a closer look at our collaboration with Rajby for Kingpins Show 2024 in Amsterdam! This denim dyed with OurCarbon reaches a striking deep grey without the use of the fossil dependent carbon black pigment found in blacks industry-wide. We look forward to continuing our work with Rajby developing this unique dye solution!

Just two days after Earth Day, Rajby Industries released a collaborative set of garments dyed with OurCarbon at the annual Kingpins Show in Amsterdam! This experimental collection shows a new depth of color achieved using our carbon negative pigment. The textile industry is rife with chemical washes, additives, and fossil pigments like carbon black. We are excited to be working with mills like Rajby Industries to offer cleaner, more responsible solutions.

WOW! We knew that Fuorisalone.it was a well attended event, but could not have imagined just how busy it could get. In weighing whether or not to show up in person at an event there is always a fear that low attendance will make the cost in carbon, dollar, and time all for nought. Spending Milan Design Week set up at Materially NOW certainly but any of those fears to bed. The OurCarbon exhibit was visited by designers, producers, manufacturers, and government officials, each with their eyes out for truly impactful carbon negative solutions. A big thanks to Garzanti Specialties for helping set up and run the exhibit and to Materially for making this show a reality!

Our final presentation at Materially NOW during Fuorisalone.it was the most attended and impactful of the whole week! The room filled with architects, designers, manufacturers, and more to hear about OurCarbon, Bioforcetech Corporation, and two of their exciting partners. Alberto Pinzo of Garzanti Specialties opened the presentation with an explanation of Garzanti Specialties distribution services and partnership with Bioforcetech to distribute OurCarbon in the Italy region. Next, Garrett Benisch took the audience through the Bioforcetech technology, OurCarbon's impact in avoiding landfill, fixing carbon, and then replacing existing materials in industry. A special focus was given to physical prototypes allowing the audience to engage directly with the materials and see its applications. Finally, our surprise guest, Barbara Scannavini of Covestro brought us home with a review of prototypes by Covestro colored with OurCarbon! Four plaques, each with their own texture, were revealed. These plaques are material samples for car interior textures and are 100% colored with OurCarbon in a beautiful smokey tint. The audience was full of questions at the end, and we were very pleased to hear their rigorous questions on the life cycle of the material, plans for production in Europe, and more.

The third panel of the Fuorisalone.it discussing OurCarbon by Bioforcetech Corporation took place at the brand new Designtech CoFactory, a manufacturing and co-working space for innovative companies. Garrett Benisch was joined by innovators from MOGU, Ricehouse Srl SB, and rehub, covering mycelium panelling, rice byproduct architectural materials, and repurposed fused murano glass 'waste' on top of our very own carbon negative material output. The theme 'nothing is thrown away' truly shined through in the discussion where all four companies highlighted their use of byproducts, ability to remain circular in their uses, and the lack of waste from their own production processes.
