Ciara Henry joins us as an R&D Engineer on the catalyst development team! Ciara studied chemical and biomolecular engineering at Johns Hopkins and has been living in the Boston area since then. Welcome to Lydian, James! James adds expertise in high temperature materials to our team. James got his PhD in materials science and engineering from Northwestern, where his research focused on thermoelectric materials. When he’s not in the lab, you can catch James exploring the New England trails and mountains (on various modes of transportation). 🏔️🏂🥾🚴

I am excited to announce that I have accepted my third and final Co-op as an R&D Mechanical Engineer at Lydian! A huge thank you to Paige Omura, Zach Modest, & Geoffrey Vaartstra for an excellent recruitment process, and to my Co-op advisor Lucy (Siying) Lu for helping me through all 3 co-op searches during my time at Northeastern. Can’t wait to continue my journey working on sustainable technology with this amazing team in July!

I am excited to announce that I have accepted my second Co-Op position at Lydian as an R&D Engineer! I am grateful for my friends, family, and Lillian Woodard who supported me. Thank you to the team at Lydian, Paige Omura, Branko Zugic, Kurt Van Allsburg, Joseph Maalouf, and Daisy Roberts for an interview process that was equally informative and inspiring. I cannot wait to be surrounded by this group of individuals dedicated to making an impact on the sustainable fuel industry.

Scaling climate technology is hard - in addition to the usual challenges that startups face, we have to think about permitting, safe materials handling, zoning, power, and more. The team at Lydian has experienced all of these challenges firsthand in the past year as we've continued to develop our low-carbon fuels technology in Massachusetts. The proposal just announced by Governor Maura Healey's office is a major boon for companies like ours and will make it significantly easier for us to continue growing and hiring in the state. I am especially excited to see so many familiar and supportive faces in the announcement: the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, who provided the first-ever funding for Lydian through their Catalyst program; Ted Wiley, who I'm lucky to consider a mentor and whose advice has been invaluable in the early stages of our growth; and Secretary Yvonne Hao, whose office has provided guidance on our recent expansion plans. We're grateful to this administration for their leadership and look forward to contributing to their vision of making Massachusetts the world's leading climate tech hub.
