Serving Chicago's iconic deep dish pizza for over 50 years! We’re at 70+ locations and ship our pizza nationwide.

About us

Considered the oldest family name in Chicago pizza, Lou Malnati's is as rich in history as its pizza is in flavor. Lou Malnati got his start in the 1940's working in Chicago's first deep dish pizzeria. He took his pizza expertise to Lincolnwood, a northern suburb of Chicago, where he and his wife Jean opened the first Lou Malnati's Pizzeria on March 17, 1971. Lou was known for his fun-loving character as well as making Chicago's best pizza. Loyal patrons lined the streets on opening day for a taste of his delicious deep dish creations. Lou always thought it was funny that an Italian should open a pizzeria in a Jewish neighborhood on an Irish holiday. But that was Lou's style; he loved all types of people and didn't care much about what people thought. Today, we have 70+ locations across Illinois, Arizona, Wisconsin, and Indiana. We also ship over a million pizzas a year through our e-commerce business, Tastes of Chicago. Malnati’s success comes from our commitment to quality. Every Lou Malnati’s pizza is handmade from scratch using the finest and freshest ingredients. Every year, the Malnati team hand selects California vine-ripened tomatoes for the perfect sweet and tangy taste. The exclusive sausage blend is seasoned to our exact specifications. The fresh mozzarella cheese comes from the same small dairy that has supplied Lou Malnati’s for over 45 years. And our family’s secret recipe for flaky, buttery crust has been passed down from generation to generation. You’ll know with every bite that each pizza was made with care and special attention. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Lou Malnati’s is proud to be ranked a top Chicago workplace 12 years in a row!

Last week, our Support Center staff had the chance to learn more about the history of our Lawndale store. Opened in 1995, this unique location set out to provide a true sit-down, dine-in experience in a community that otherwise lacked one. Spearheaded by Marc & Rick Malnati, along with former company President Stu Cohen and Lawndale community coach, Rev. and supporter, Wayne Gordon, our team of leaders envisioned a community impact that went beyond pizza.   The store represented a partnership with the neighborhood and the goal of bettering the lives of those in it. The non-profit community store opened with the commitment that any profits received would go back to the community for youth educations and recreation programs. A rehabilitation center stood above the store and those in recovery were given the opportunity to work for Lou’s while they stayed there. One of those employees, who is still with Lou’s today, spoke at the event and credited that opportunity as a major reason for helping turn his life around. We even had former managers from the store speak about how much it meant to them to help cultivate such a strong culture in a place that needed it.   We are so proud of this community partnership that still exists today, nearly 30 years later. Lawndale is perhaps our most unique store, and you can’t tell the story of Lou Malnati’s without it.

It’s Tuesday… and you know what that means! Another episode of Bring More Joy to the Table is now live! This week’s episode features a conversation with my longtime friend, Mike Archer, CEO of Lou Malnati's Pizzeria!   Here are some of the key takeaways:   1) We discuss the differences between selling a product, building a concept, and ultimately becoming a true brand. This insight is critical, especially as brands expand into new markets and geographies.   2) I bet you didn’t know that Lou’s matches the water of Chicago in new markets through reverse osmosis to ensure the crusts tastes “just like home.” They even go so far to send seasoned pans for additional flavor.   3) Relationships and culture make all the difference in the workplace. Lou Malnati’s excellence in both has led to long-tenured employees and 14 consecutive years of being named one of the best places to work.   4) Owning every step of the omni-channel approach has allowed Lou’s to deliver restaurant-quality tastes from the comfort of your home.    Check out the full episode and subscribe/follow for all the future episodes!   Spotify: https://spoti.fi/3WBvQqZ Apple: https://apple.co/3UtWQ9a #interview #podcast #bringmorejoy

Last week, Jean, Marc, & Rick Malnati joined us at our Support Center to celebrate our Founder’s Day. Our founding family shared some of their favorite stories from the 53-year history of Lou Malnati’s, providing a lot of great history and laughs along the way. From the opening of our original Lincolnwood store, to becoming a local favorite at ChicagoFest, and eventually growing to a nationwide brand through shipping frozen pizzas, they recalled all the hard work and tough lessons that went into making Lou’s the company we are today.    Of course, we also enjoyed a variety of our classic menu items, many of which were recipes created by different team members throughout the years. A reminder that we have always been a product of our people, in addition to serving the best pizza in the world!
