Dr. Ogunseinde, known for his expertise in spine surgery and innovative treatment approaches, provided an in-depth analysis of the SI joint's anatomy, function, and its significance in maintaining pelvic stability. His lecture covered the latest diagnostic techniques, treatment options, and surgical interventions for SI joint dysfunction, a common but often overlooked cause of lower back pain.   • David Jayakar, M.D., M.S., has been director of cardiovascular services at Longview Regional Hospital since 2010. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Jayakar has a special interest in minimally invasive cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgery. He also performs transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair and introduced bloodless cardiac surgery, off-pump beating heart bypass surgery and the “Fistula First” program to Longview Regional Hospital. Dr. Jayakar grew up in Madras, India, where he attended Madras Christian High School. His undergraduate work was done at Madras University where he graduated as the valedictory student. Dr. Jayakar spent one year at Southampton General Hospital in England for advanced training in neonatal cardiac surgery. He completed his surgical residency at State University of New York and moved to Tucson, Arizona, where he completed his fellowship training in cardiovascular surgery at University Medical Center under the guidance of Dr. Jack Copeland. He joined the University of Chicago Hospital’s department of thoracic and cardiovascular surgery in 1999. To stay closer to his family, he moved to St. Catherine Hospital in 2003 and to St Vincent's Hospital in 2008. Dr. Jayakar has authored or co-authored numerous articles and papers in leading scientific journals, and book chapters in textbooks on cardiovascular disease. His publications cover a wide range of topics including adult cardiac surgery, transplant surgery, ventricular assist devices, surgical pathology, heart failure and atrial fibrillation. He also holds a trade certificate in radio engineering and has invented many surgical and medical instruments. He has been a member of the American College of Cardiology, American College of Surgeons, American Heart Association, American Medical Association, Ohio Chapter of the American College of Surgeons, Ohio State Medical Association, and The American Association for Thoracic Surgery, Cleveland Academy of Medicine, Society of Thoracic Surgeons, and the American Surgical Association. Dr Jayakar pioneered the adaptation of beating heart surgery, minimally invasive cardiac surgery, minimally invasive cardiac arrhythmia surgery (maze procedure), minimally invasive lung and vascular surgery. He has been prolific in his clinical work and has achieved 0% yearly mortality for beating heart bypass many times. Dr. Jayakar loves spending time with his family.   • Kenneth Reesor, M.D., is a board-certified orthopedic spine surgeon with Longview Orthopedics Regional Clinics. Dr. Reesor attended the University of Kentucky in Lexington. He then completed the transitional surgical internship with the US Army at Dwight David Eisenhower Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia. His orthopedic preceptorship with the US Army was at Moncrief Community Army Hospital in Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Dr. Reesor completed his residency with the US Army at Tripler Army Medical Center in Tripler, Hawaii, and his spine surgical fellowship at South Texas Spinal Clinic in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Reesor’s gamut of spine surgery ranges from complex multi-level front back fusions, both cervical and lumbar, to the simple minimally invasive procedures such as the interspinous distractor device, vetebralplasty, and kyphoplasty. Dr. Reesor is from Glendale, Kentucky, and has been practicing in the East Texas region since 1993. Dr. Reesor has five children: Scott, Melissa, Jacob, Kayla and Sarah.   • Rodney Henry, M.D., FACC, is an interventional cardiologist. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiology and interventional cardiology. Dr. Henry obtained his undergraduate degree from Baylor University and his medical degree from University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas. He continued his internship, residency and fellowship training at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. Dr. Henry is a long-term area resident and has practiced cardiology in Longview at Longview Regional Medical Center since 1981. He and his wife, Susan, have raised two sons. He enjoys traveling, doing medical missions overseas for those less fortunate, and caring for cardiology patients in this community. Dr. Henry is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and is a past president of the Texas Chapter of the American Heart Association. He serves on the Board of Buckner International providing services to children, families and senior adults locally and internationally, and volunteers for educational forums.
