Building a Community Literate in the English Language.

About us

Literacy Green Bay was founded in 1981 under our former name of Literacy Council of Brown County in response to a need for tutors to work with newly arrived Southeast Asian refugees. The all-volunteer program was later expanded to include undereducated English speaking adults, as well as students of all ethnicities, and paid staff was hired to provide the level of resources necessary to support the organization's goals. Our mission is to help adults and families acquire the reading, writing, math, English language, computer and workforce skills they need to function effectively as workers and community members.

  • We're thrilled to have Eric become part of the Literacy Green Bay community! Eric is excited to begin serving as the new Executive Director of Literacy Green Bay. Previously, Eric served as the Executive Director of the Volunteer Center of Brown County for seven years, working to fulfill the organization's strategic plan and cultivating relationships throughout the community in the areas of marketing and fund development. Under his leadership, affiliate partner organizations with the Volunteer Center have tripled since his tenure began. Prior to that, he spent 18+ years in youth serving organizations, working with the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Green Bay, the YMCA, and the Salvation Army Kroc Center in the areas of youth development, programming and administration. Eric is a 2015 graduate of Leadership Green Bay and was a Greater Green Bay Chamber Ambassador for 4 years. He also currently serves as a board member for the Children’s Museum of Green Bay. In his spare time, Eric enjoys Wisconsin sports (Packers and Brewers specifically) and spending time at the family cottage. Eric, his wife Heather, 8 year old son Connor, and 11 year old Bichon Lola reside in Green Bay.
