🎉LifeLong Medical Care Turns 48!  The year was 1976, the place, Berkeley, California, where the senior population faced a growing, unmet need for health services. Enter a small group of Gray Panthers, whose members created an innovative solution—a milestone in elder care—the Over 60 Health Center.   LifeLong has come a long way in 48 years, and a lot has changed since 1976. But one thing has stayed the same: consistently meeting the needs of our patients.  We have established countless programs and outreach events to deepen our community roots further. Each year, we provide services to more than 57,000 underserved individuals, many with complex health conditions. 💙Father's Day This Father’s Day we celebrate the incredible fathers and father figures who nurture, inspire, and guide us. LifeLong partners with Alameda County Fathers Corps program in supporting fathers and the health of their families. LifeLong health centers are embracing the principles of Alameda County Fathers Corps, formed to support fathers to be meaningfully engaged with their children and to advocate for father-friendly services. Communications in waiting rooms and exam rooms include more photos of men, and staff have worked to ensure programming is more inclusive of and focused on fathers and father-like figures. Men now have access to support groups and parenting “dadscussions,” and male patient volunteers are reaching out to other men who are LifeLong patients about scheduling health screenings. Fathers, your health matters—not just today, but every day. You are the superheroes in the lives of so many, and your well-being is crucial for you to continue being the amazing role models you are. Join us at the 2nd Annual Oakland Drinks Water Community Health Fair Event Details: Who: Oakland residents and their families When: Saturday, June 1, 2024, from 12 PM to 4 PM Where: Lake Merritt Bandstand area, across from 666 Bellevue Ave. (Nearest public transit: BART Lake Merritt, AC Transit Line 18) The health fair will feature a variety of vendors and activities designed to increase awareness about the health risks associated with consuming sugar-sweetened beverages and to showcase the positive impacts of the Measure HH Tax revenue-funded SSB Community Grants Program. Attendees can look forward to an afternoon filled with music, food, educational presentations, giveaways, and fun activities suitable for the whole family. Highlights include health screenings, cooking demonstrations, and interactive educational sessions provided by several City Departments and local organizations such as Oakland Roots and Cycles for Change. This community event underscores Oakland's commitment to promoting healthier lifestyles, preventing and mitigating the risks of chronic illnesses, and advocating for policies that foster a thriving, healthy community. The Oakland Drinks Water Community Health Fair is made possible through funding from Oakland's Measure HH Sugar-Sweetened Beverage Tax, which supports community initiatives aimed at enhancing public health.
