Volunteer Nastaran recently posted to our Facebook community about what inspired her to get involved (and painted these gorgeous cards!): "I found out there are two seniors who speak my mother tongue and it motivated me to start writing letters right away. The thought of the possibility that they might have never received a letter made me feel so upset. I also painted these postcards for them. Hope they receive these letters and like them." If you're learning, or speak another language, we invite you to join us! We at LAI know how detrimental loneliness can be, and that it affects people of all ages, not just seniors. This week Marmalade Trust the UK's leading loneliness charity, is hosting #lonelinessawarenessweek. Launched in 2017, it aims to raise awareness for the impacts of loneliness in the UK and around the world. Visit their site to learn more about loneliness statistics, how to have conversations about loneliness and make connections, and common FAQs. There are resources for parents, the self-employed, and any of us that have, or are, experiencing feelings of loneliness in our lives. This year's theme is Random Acts of Connection.
